3M Clearshield Paint Protection???

Hello everyone. Do any of you have experience with the Mini 3M Clearshield Paint Protection System?

They tried to sell me on it when I ordered my car. The kit covers the front bumper, the front half of the hood and the door edges.

They claim that they warrant it for 7 years. If the protection is damaged, it will get replaced for free and if something gets through it and damages the paint, they will paint the car for free.

The model in the showroom looked really good and you could barely see the film on the hood.

I'm tempted to do this if it works. If any of you have experience with this, especially for year-round Iowa motoring, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

Do it!

It is the best thing going for protecting the front end of your car from paint nicks. It also makes clean up of bugs, road tar, etc. much easier.

It is well worth the $500 or $600 the dealer charges if you live in an area with dirt roads, gravel trucks, or whatever that continually pelts the front end of your car.

Jim, not getting the clear bra was one of my biggest regrets with my former MINI. The battle with paint chips became a losing battle.

I had the clear bra installed by the dealer when I ordered my present MINI...and I would do it again.

I have it and highly recommend it! I got sprayed by a gravel truck and even though I sustained quite a few nicks, there would have been many more (and the ones that I did get would have been much worse). Best investment you can make in your MINI IMO. I've even considered covering the doors (now it is too late, I have a 1" long scratch from a car that parked next to me IN THE EXTREME BACK OF THE PARKING LOT). GRR!!

Yeah I concur do it!!

I also did the unthinkable (atleast to me) and ordered the aquapel for the windscreen but it covers the cost of replacement for 7 years including nicks and chips in the windscreen.

I got one too, mine also covers the headlights and fog lights as well as the mirror caps, the cups behind the door handles and the top of the rear bumper.

I got hit with a BIG rock right next to the emblem on the hood. The whole car rang when it hit! It left a small dent, so the clear bra doesn't make the car dent proof, but it does prevent paint chips.

You have to be careful when waxing the car and not leave a white line of wax along the clear bra's edge.

One of my biggest regrets is not getting a clear bra installed. I now need to have my bumper and hood repainted

Thanks for all the great feedback. I just sent an email to the dealer telling him to add it onto my bill when my car gets here.

Now if Mini would get off their duff and update my production order on the website! Right now the production order they gave me belongs to a Silver 2008 MC.

They tell me it could take 8-10 weeks to get my car. And then - "By the way, I had a customer order a custom build 2 weeks ago and his car will be here next week. I can't make any promises with you car..." (You're killing me Smalls!")
