21st Annual Swamp Fox Festival Parade

Remember the fun we have had for the past three years in the Swamp Fox parade in Marion? Last year I was honored to have my Grand Daughter as our parade Princess.

This years Princess will be Brian and Cora's daughter, Sevyn! Thanks for agreeing to be our Princess, Sevyn.

Parade will be on Sept. 18th here in Marion. I have received the registration forms so be sure you check your calendars and start signing up. Details to follow.

Last year we had 18 MINI's in the parade, maybe we can do better this year. Several of us are in the process of getting our MINI's repaired from accidents... REDMINI is now back home and we are wishing LEO a full recovery when he goes to the body shop on July 28th.

Larry & Pam
"REDMINI"

Edit: Sign-ups may be made ---> HERE <---

Done. Sign-ups may be made ---> HERE <---

Spread the word -- it would be awesome to beat last year's attendance of 18 MINIs.

For some insight into the fun, here are links to pictures from the past two years of Swamp Fox Festival Parades -

Some gal (in a hurry to get back to work) decided to change into my lane where REDMINI happened to be. If you studied Physics in school or college, you will know that two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Result was a scraped drivers door, rear panel, trim and rear wheel. It's been in the shop for two weeks (partly waiting for a new door), and now they found that they need to replace the passenger seat because of an air bag fault... More waiting. I'm just hoping I get it back in time for the 24th Ferry crossing!

 :eek2:    and I'll be :) to see you on the 24th!
Glad you are okay.

Hope no one was hurt?

Here's to a speedy & full recovery for REDMINI

No one hurt, just REDMINI's pride.

More information on the upcoming Swamp Fox Parade in Marion.

http://www.uptownmarion.com/things-to-do.html?item=238

For those of you who have been in the parade and especially those that haven't, you are in for your treat of all kinds of pie and ice cream in the city square after the parade.

We need to break the record of 18 MINI's we had last year! See the sign up that Gary has so graciously posted.

It is with great regret that we will not be there! It will be so disappointing to the crowd not have Purple Haze in the line-up! :cry:I guess you other lesser shades and colors will have to carry on with out us

But seriously, I am sad to miss this event! Dang kids and their dumb old wedding!

Miah34 07-13-2010 03:59 AM

I will try and make it this year, but i'm not sure if i have to work that weekend yet or not.

Not too early to be thinking about rounding up stock of red/white/blue decorations to add the standard pizazz to our MINIs.

I have some bows left over from last year. Anyone else have leftovers from prior years stashed away?

Glad to see that Sevyn is representing us as our EIM royalty!

I have some that I will pass on after the Holy Cross Parade. I will look for more when I am out and about.

Don't forget to sign up for the Swamp Fox Parade. I only see six on the sign up list so far.

Steve and Bobbi will be our "official" host MINI for carrying the Princess again this year. Thank you very much! Your Cool Blue Cabrio is building a reputation.

Sevyn, Brian and Cora's daughter will be our Princess! Thank you again.

Nice to see Daryl's LEO is home again after a week's stay in the "car" hospital. Now that we have had damage to a Red, White & Blue (patriotic) MINI, maybe we will be done with MINI damage.

See you all in Holy Cross Saturday Aug. 14th for the parade.

*
Each car must be registered through me no later than August 21, 2010. I will submit all the registrations at the same time in insure that we will all be together.

Our registration (group) will be assigned Entry Numbers, which is our position in the parade. I will pass them out at the meeting point.

* Parade starts at 10:15 AM.

* After the parade, food, drinks and entertainment will be held in the town square. A favorite is the pie and ice cream.

Sorry about the above... I'll try again.

Subscribing to this thread.....This is quite a drive for us, but we are considering it. Chicago Minis has a brewery tour the same day, about 40 miles from us, so we are trying to figure out which one to go to. The parade sounds like a lot of fun!

We would love to have some Illinois representation in our parade, we always have a lot of fun escorting a new Eastern Iowa MINI's Princess every year. Let us know if you can make it. Details of the meet up before the parade are above. I'll probably reserve an extra space or two just in case we have someone join us.

I have signed up....but its tenative. Is that ok?

Great! I have you down. Hope everything works out so you can make it.

ViperGTS 08-19-2010 06:57 PM

I was going to officially sign our MINI family up for the parade, but when I went to click on the link, I saw I was already attending :) what a pleasant surprise.

Is that all we need to do? Just let you know we are going to be there, or is there something we need to fill out?

We are very excited to meet all of you and be "adopted" by the EIM's :)

Looks like the MINI "God's" must have signed you up. Other than that, I can't imagine how you got signed up. :) We are happy to have you, you have done all you need to do. If you have any questions about times, meet up place, etc., look at the above posts and if you have any further questions, shoot me a message.

Ok....

Talked to Doug Whalen today when I stopped by to visit him and I am trying to get him talked into coming with us. Then it would be an R53 and an 09 JCW representing Illinois at the Festival. If you haven't seen his shift knobs, check them out:

http://www.whalenshiftmachine.com/

He can do almost anything custom also. There is an entire thread in the R56 section about pics of his shift knobs. I'm currently working on getting both the e-brake handle and a custom shift knob from him, but the Wife needs to decide what she wants to get on her shift knob.

You can see some of his shift knobs here:
http://www.mini2.com/forum/first-gen...at-please.html

and on this forum, here:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-r56-only.html

This is definitely going to be the next mod I do to my car!

Doug W 08-25-2010 02:34 PM

Hey, I just went to sign up, and found that those same MINI gods have already gotten my name put on the list, too!
Sounds like a good time! Plus, I love pie and ice cream; so how can I go wrong?
