Seperate Website Portal to Forum?

http://www.megapixelphotos.com/eimc/main/

I figure if we are going to try and organize events and charity drives and such we should have our own site separate from NAM so we can more clearly address our needs. What do you think of the above site?

That's what I was thinking but didn't want to jump the gun without the groups approval.

Really nice work with this page, Rob.

I think, given that the three of us are in relative agreement, we can go ahead with implementing this page as the Eastern Iowa MINIs default for www.easterniowaminis.org. I don't anticipate any push back from the other folks as this is definitely an improvement in our ability to coordinate and communicate.

Some comments/questions:
- We want to make sure that the link to NAM is prominent, as this is a ground condition for our presence on NAM
- can the URL www.easterniowaminis.org be displayed in the web browser as a proxy for the megapixelphotos.com site to keep from confusing folks?
- Does this come with an image hosting capability? Can we integrate a "photo diary" from past events separate from external sites like Flickr?
- Any chance of eventually integrating a calendar function for tracking upcoming events?
- Rob, are you willing to act as our webmaster? You seem to have the knack!
- This identification of our existence as represented by this site may be leading us to be a bit more intentional with regard to formalizing our organization (e.g., identification of officers, etc.) to avoid any legal hassles down the road -- something else we may want to discuss on the 8th.

Again, thanks much for the great work and initiative.

If this is something we decide to use which it seems so, I will offload it onto it's own host. That way it can reside in a base directory with no need to have the megapixelphotos site show up at all in the name.

I updated the header image to reflect that we are a NAM based group. Implemented a galleries sections and will eventually get a calendaring system in place too.

OK if you go to http://www.easterniowaminis.org it should no longer show anything about my photoblog, I just did some masking to it rather than moving it to a dedicated, hosts. Added a calendar but it's not working to be able to see future events. You can post to future dates but users can browse the calendar for upcoming events other than the current month, trying to figure that out.

I can also turn up an event calendar for the club that is hosted on NAM. I do this already for a number of other clubs. It has RSVP functionality for events so let me know if this would be of interest to the club. Like the club forum there isn't any charge or cost for having this on NAM.

^^ Yeah Mark! That would be great, I'm sure eventually I could rig something up but if we can just incorporate it into NAM that would be easier.

So here is a news flash...you already had a calendar on NAM. Here is a direct link to it:

You can also click on Calendar in the Main Menu and then on the bottom right of the calendar shown use the drop down to select your calendar.

Currently D3mON and Gil-galad are configured as coordinators of the calendar.

Let me know if you need any further help.

^^ Link is up, dont necessarily know that I need access to having D3m0n and Gil-galad is good enough for me.

I added D3m0n and Gil-Galad as editors to the other site so they can hopefully change stuff and approve comments.

Mark, I see a whole lot of birthdays in "our" calendar for folks who are obviously not members of our club. Did we receive the correct link?

I changed the configuration so that they don't show on your calendar. They should show on the NAM master calendar now.
