i need your guy's opinion if you would so kindly
ok so i have had this annoying problem for a while, on idle it will get shaky and random times when already warmed up, i want to get it fix, heres my situation, it happened probably a week after i installed an alta CAI, i am not sure if it caused it but i do not want to take it to the dealer to get denied, i was thinking of going to steves auto clinic to have them check it out, and if it was not caused by the CAI go to the dealer to get it fixed under warranty, or should i just go to the dealer and see what they say? what would you guys do?

please dont all rush at once, haha
|
All depends on the dealer, why not just take the 20 min and swap it back to stock?
|
Josh, I'd recommend taking it to Steve's Auto Clinic. The dealership could deny service due to after-market modding.

ya thats what i was thinking, but it is just a CAI, i was also of thinking of taking off the intake and then taking it in, has anyone done that before?

i was thinking about that, but what about the piece of weather stripping i had to cut, i still have it but would not it look awkward?(btw awkward is an awkward looking word haha.)
As for the car randomly shaking. It's just a 4 banger, there's gonna be some vibration at idle, even a bit of shudder. Both my Mini's have done it, i'd say it's fairly normal :-). |
every now and then at idle - the car drops a 100/200 rpm and get "the shakes". I rev the car, idle sets back to normal. Since it doesn't happen very often and seems to resolve itself w/ a foot rev - I have never pursued it further.

I have had this problem too, even when totaly stock. Get some total fuel system cleaner from an autoparts store. It is said to clean injectors, remove carbon from the valves, and clear the fuel line and such. I think it helps. It says right on the bottle it smoothes rough idle. Reving the car has also worked for me.

hey not to get off topic but I have heard alot about steves auto shop. Where is this and is this part of M7?
|
Mine is an MC, but it is still very similar. When the cooling fan turns on, it gets rough. Also when the AC is running. Other than that, it is smooth

I second steve's auto clinic. He's very fair on pricing and likely won't charge you a dime to diagnose your issue. I'll actually be there tomorrow :-).

Does great work. Very fair pricing. He has no affiliation with M7, M7 is in Orange County, Steve's shop is in LA County. Steve does carry several Alta and M7 parts though. |

When did you see it? I stopped by there on Saturday to have him scan my DME and see why my car misfired a few days earlier, turned out to be a bad plug (He installed 4 new Denso Iridium plugs when I got a new pulley). He pulled them all and replaced them for free .
