New Software and i've fallen in love all over again........

The state of California did me a favor. The emission recall on my '04 MCS required me to go back to the dealer if i wanted my vehicle registered. So reluctantly i went. The dealer while polite did what dealers do which is wiped out my MTH software and restored my ECU with their safe, reliable but very wanting version. I drove my car home from the dealer in a funk. My car was sluggish, and i could feel my installed Schick Cam wake up let alone pull. This was NOT acceptable... so i did my homework, looked into all my ECU software options and then went with my newly educated gut. I contacted a new Tuner here in LA whose software developement i had been hearing alot about. I knew him personally as driven, a perfectionist, and passionate about performance. We met today and i had him install the new software. we did the butt dyno and tuned the software to resove some drivability issues. This is step one, for the next step we will put the car on the dyno and fine tune the car after seeing the actual numbers my car produces. Driving this car home i felt the thrill i experienced after i had my new pulley installed X 10. It's a different car... a very different drive! The engine pulling is smooth and constant.... from the slightist tap on the accelerator to get started through the power band. My car had so much more power! With the MTH i had the yoyo effect and what i call the pregnant pause (the hestitation in the lower power band before power showed up which got me stomped in autocross). i didn't expect them to be gone but they were. My Mini is the first car i ever modded for performance and i have learned many lessons. Some of them the hard way. It was nice to be surprise by by the car i'd grown complacent with. i took the Very Very long way home. These are amazing cars... i got reminded to never underestimate their potential or ours for delight in driving them. can't wait for the dyno and finesse tuning.

So, pray tell, who is this "tuner"?

and how can I get this software for my Mini???

Read between the lines...

and you can make an educated guess! It's good to hear it's working out so well. I've got the 'pregnant pause" as well and I'll be working on getting it stomped out as well. But the sad thing is, the only way to get it done is to visit SoCal....

Did you get the software this past weekend at the 'pregnant pause' that you visited with your wife and daughter?

Presuming I am on the right track, it would seem that the impending tune has been completed. Any speculaltion as to why things are so hush, hush? If you want to PM me, feel free.

Why not visit SoCal, the weather is lovely:). Wed i am getting the car dyno'd and fine tuned by Emil. After that i will have some numbers as to what kind of effect the software has had on torque and horse power. The car was dyno'd before with MTH on the car so i will have some comparison. The pause and yoyo effect being gone was more than i asked for, but now i expect to see real numbers confirm the butt dyno on wed. The software will be availible to the public in a couple of weeks. contact me if you want contact info.

this sounds promising. Is this the same or similar software as FTR has been developing? or something totally different?
