Is it possible? Would it be more effiecient? I think it would save some space under the hood, maybe even a little weight. Any one know the answers?

Centrifical supercharger are basically belt driven turbos and as such usually suck for small displacement engines as they generally don't build boost until higher rpm's. A roots or positive displacement supercharger is far better for a small displacement engine.

They have been built for the Miata a few times now (Camden, Z-Engineering) and the reports are bad. I wouldn't at all be surprised if Moss/Jackson is designing a Eaton blower kit for the regular Cooper as we speak. I'd buy one (yes, Peter, you read it right  ) .
