If you 'd thought we'd heard the last of the Plasma Booster, it has risen from the dead once again!

Matt

Matt, I believe that MiniMania picked up the PB a while ago. I saw it on their site last year... I believe that the PB company secured a contract with them when M7 stopped marketing it.

Some birdies told me..

That they have found drivability improvements with it. But I also read all the flame wars on it as well. Who really knows?

Tony, what do you notice with it hooked up?

When I hooked it up, I had stock plugs and wires...

I was having RPM fluctuation issues prior to the install, and I was hoping that this might somehow remedy that problem. It ended-up being a TB and some software at the time (Evotech). After firing-up the car, and noticing that the tach was still slightly bouncing, I turned it off, called it a day; never even drove it.

The next day (Mon) I drove to work the car felt different, better, spunkier, quicker throttle. Honestly, I totally forgot that I had installed the PB for a few minutes...

Having said all of that, I shortly thereafter installed new plugs and wires, and while many seem to feel a little something, I did not. So, quite possibly, if I would have installed the PB after these, I may have felt nothing either...

Yeah, the PB got grief around here, that's for sure. The founder even came-on and composed lengthy posts explaining its virtues, but to no avail. A good part of it made sense to me, but it was well-over the heads of many, if not all of us here (then MCO, now NAM)...

I thought about scrapping it to save another pound or so, but I just remember what I felt, so it stays...

One aspect I have noted on the Plasma booster: Installing one definitely increases combustion temperatures. Thing is, it's here at NAM.

Plasma Booster a.k.a. Thread Taser

RECOOP May 16, 2006 01:15 PM

When my PB was installed, I thought that the engine was smoother through the rev range. However, I've done so many mods since then, that I really can't say if the PB is of value.

My PB has been removed and is now for sale. It has that really neat M7 logo with flashing blue lights. The wires were cut during removal, but I'm sure new ones could be installed. If someone wants one of these M7 PB's, either for use or as a collectible, please send me a PM. The logo alone makes it most desirable...

the concept is good, those secondary sparks really do help in increasing the amount of fuel that is burnt. MSD has a multiple secondary spark hook up like the PB, called the stacker from the write ups on the internet people like it!

Good grief, it has sure been slow around here huh.

In what regard?

I have one I bought slightly used and it cleared up my stumble/bumble problem that one can "search the posts" on......

"Plasma, the 4th state of matter"

......nothing dramatic, but smoother for sure.
