Don't get me wrong, I love reading them, and they carry some great info, but they take up 1/3 of the posts on the first page, and that is where most people come to read.. could they be put somewhere and then linked from a single sticky on the top or something? just a thought, Do not mean to discourage you, or cause flame wars. So people if you don't agree, please be gentleman or ladylike about it, same for if you do agree.

Thanks,
Dan

Moderators, Should this be in site feedback?

This is a great suggestion. These mod HOW TOS are getting numerous and need their own category.

I believe there is a long-term solution being developed (I know a "garage" has been discussed), but I could be wrong.

In the meantime, I think that your idea for one "How-To" Sticky with links to each of the individual how to's is actually a good idea.

MiniPilo Feb 3, 2003 01:17 PM

I think that this is better here, because it only pertains to this part of the forum, where randy is the moderator. I think he can decide this with our input

dave Feb 3, 2003 01:19 PM

The How-Tos are going to be moved to a different section of the site. Mark is aware of the issue and is working it.

chrisneal Feb 3, 2003 01:21 PM

Yeah Randy, stop cluttering up the site already!

The how-tos will soon occupy a different location. Sorry for being such a hog! The only way I can think of doing it would be to unsticky them and let them float down the threads, and make one sticky with links.

How does that sound?

Randy,
Wherever you wanna post is okie dokie with me....
Just keep 'em comin......

How about a "How-to" category under "Features", with subcategories the same as the applicable forum topics?.

>>..., but they take up 1/3 of the posts on the first page, ...>>

Randy:

A "short shifter how-to" might move you up to the 1/2 way mark

Keep 'em coming!

Ryephile Feb 3, 2003 07:56 PM

I love the How-to's Randy, definitely required keepers

I agree with the idea to put them as a seperate "feature" as "how-to"

MiniPilo Feb 3, 2003 08:17 PM

Randy, Looks good, thanks for understanding, and brining such good info to the board

BlueMCS Feb 3, 2003 08:26 PM

Let's see, if Randy takes up half the Forum and he goes away, what's left?

Just the other half!

Keep it up Randy. Its what I come here to read (and learn).

MiniPilo Feb 3, 2003 08:29 PM

I'm not asking mini to stop what he's doing, all I was saying was the to get more information on the first page, his posts could be consolidated.. that all, Randy does a great job!

Mini2Go Feb 3, 2003 09:03 PM

The last thing anyone here wants is for Randy to go away with any of his information, input, insight, or wit!

I think it's fair to say that we all appreciate Randy's contributions to MCO.

I like the consolidated approach. I anticipate the newer format that Mark is developing - which should really help to feature this kind of information better - but I think this is a good approach until that comes. It doesn't take away the information, nor does it hide it, nor does it obscure the other threads in the forum.

Everybody is happy!

Randy,

Nicely handled. I really think that what you've done in terms of consolidating all the links into a single locked post is a great interim measure until the MCO garage is ready for you to move the How-To's over.

Dave
