I was wondering if everyone else's rogue/mini-madness intakes looked like this. I was under the impression that the top of the heat shield was flat and not angled. Does your intake look like this?

Looks as if this is a new design...is there still the rubber seal over the top? maybe this was a design change to better fit against the underside of the bonnet...or it was cut down in part to support room for a stress bar.

If you measure the height in the two parts I will measure mine tonight and can see if part of it was raised, or the other half lowered....if part was raised higher it would be to better fit the bonnet...if part was lowered i'm guess it was to fit a stress bar. Additionally when the filter element is inserted...how is the top of the filter in comparsion to the two different heights.

Looks like mine. Nothing to worry about.

There is a rubber stripping but due to the angles it is very difficult to fit on. This would be alot easier to understand if my cooper wasn't sitting at the vpc for the last 3 weeks (don't get me started). Ben from rogue said the pictures on the instructions were just a prototype version and this was the final. So I guess the angles make it easier to fit underneath the bonnet. Go figure. Would it be ok to cut the rubber stripping at the 90 degree angle so i could just fit the other side without bending around the corner? Thanks again

Just say your post dave, thanks, I have a closet full of parts and after staring at them for about a month with no cooper to put them on, you get a little insane.

Should have bought the BMP Intake. Looks better and preforms the same.

Blake,

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you on that. The pics you sent wouldn't open through my browser - weird, huh?

That is the normal contour. You don't see it in all the pics because of the rubber strip. Until you install it and push the strip down to make the hood contours fit, it really look flat.

Here's a pic:

Well, not really nobull.

Our independent dyno tests have consistetly shown that the Madness intake makes 9 horsepower. The BMP has consistently shown 4-6 horsepower.

Don't get me wrong- I like the BMP. It was built very well, looks great, makes a lot more Supercharger whine, and lets you use the BMP strut brace, which is an absolute work of art.

I carry the BMP and the Madness intakes, so I really am not trying to sell one over the other, just telling you what the dyno has shown.

So, can you use the BMP strut brace with the mini-madness intake or not.

If not, is there a strut brace you can use with the madness intake.

Thanks,

John

p.s. Randy, getting ready for a big order soon.

No, the BMP strut brace will only work with the BMP intake. I do believe that Rogue is working on a strut brace...which assumablly would work with their own intake.

Oh, and Randy, isn't that the Turner intake, not the Rogue? I thought the Turner was the only one that came in black powdercoat. Hmmm.

No the MINI-Madness/Rogue Engineering Intake is available in both stainless and black powdercoated.

John,

Davbret is right, which is one of the reasons that I still carry the BMP. The BMP strut brace only works with the BMP filter.

Looking forward to helping you!

The Rogue is the intake that everyone sells, and it is available powder coated or bare aluminum. Turner, Rogue, MINI Cooper Motorsport (my favorite  ), and MINI-Madness all distribute it.

We're still working on a decent strut brace that will work with the Madness intake.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Randy
