Drivetrain M45 vs M62 S/C

M45 vs M62 S/C
I got to browsing Eaton's website and noticed that the casing for these two S/C's is the same size (front drive portion excepted).

It appears that the M62 would make more boost at any given RPM, and do it a bit more efficiently and with less temp delta.
Having never cracked open the S/C, I'm wondering if the front drive segment, and the rear waterpump & inlet segments could simply be swapped from our M45 to a M62? Or is there some BMW proprietary architecture happening here that wouldn't permit it?
ciao!

This was indeed brought-up before, but the conversation sort of fizzled:

My guess is that the M62 is about 44.5mm longer in the body than the M45. The difference would account for the increased capacity of the M62. The increased length of the body would mean that the output side of the M62 would not align with the manifold of the MCS. An adapted might be able to be fabricated, but it might also entail adding a longer belt and different hoses to connect to the water pump. Space is tight in front of the motor and I am not sure how much the blower could be moved forward, and on the waterpump end, and still fit.
Perhaps a shorter version of the input drive end might be available that would allow the blower body to be moved slightly to the left.
Sounds complicated, but not impossible.

If you want to find out about what is possible for a M45 to M62 adaptation
check with these guy's > http://www.magnusonproducts.com/aboutus.htm
You will have to go through a retailer who can be found on the web site.

*whaps self* I used to work for Eaton's Navy Controls division, and although we now are owned by DRS-PCT, there is an Eaton engineering building about a block away from us. I'll run this idea over there on monday and see if I can track anyone down who might know. I dont think they work on the SC's there but you never know who they might know.

From the info I've read, running a bigger supercharger (i.e. M45 -vs- M62) is a winning situation ... if you can fit it in the car. A larger Roots-style blower takes bigger gulps of air and can produce the same boost as a smaller blower by turning slower (beating up the air less, and heating it less in the process). The catch is fitting it under the hood and lining it up with the belt drive, the inlet and outlet passages ... and dealing with the water pump situation.

Here are some more specs:

Looks like bolt patterns are all over the place between the 45 and 62, even between the M45 and MP45.

I've had a chance to look at more m45 & m62's from a variety of resellers, like Andy suggests, bolt patterns are all over the map.
It appears that Eaton is creating different cases for OEMs and large resellers of kits, while keeping the internal mechanics to spec for each size?
I also noticed that the inlet for our M45 is molded into the case... again a custom case for an OEM. I was hoping the rear inlet side was a bolt on plate that could be mounted on a M62. The front drive section comes in several lengths and are bolt on.
I wonder if one could machine our M45 case to accept the internals of the m62?

I found it interesting that our "custom" m45 has a spacer in it. See the ~1" section between the outlet and the nose?
If the guts of the blowers are really the same, other than case length, it would be awesome if just installing a bigger spacer and shorter nose would work. For some reason, I doubt everything would line up so nicely though.

The engineer who I talked to said that the friend of his that he talked to wasn't involved with SC's anymore but sent me to this link:
