Can't get WOT reading

I have been using car chip recently for some data logging. It only records 90% throttle openings. The unit only records every 5 sec but I have been at wot for longer then this.

Does the unit just not reconize 100% throttle settings or am I having a big problem here.

I am currently using MTH software. I do believe he changes the Egas map... Well don't want to start any conspiracies... However whenever I recieve my ECU back from Helix (with GIAC) I will do some tests.

Does anyone on here use a car chip?

Ryan

Did a couple of searches... Didn't find anything with much relevance. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction.

I too have the Car Chip and also am running MTH. I would be curious to know what you find after going with GIAC. Thanks.

The throttle body uses a pair of potentiometers to measure the angle of the throttle plate. This is a redundancy feature in case one potentiometer fails. There is a similar pair of pots in the accelerator pedal. Anyhoo, the deal with potentiometers is you shouldn't use the very lowest or highest areas of their range. Potentiometers become inaccurate at their extrema. So, the range from closed throttle to WOT may go from 12% to 88% or something like that. I would never expect to see 0% or 100%. The throttle is definitely fully open even when it's not "100%":

Does anyone know why the CarChip doesn't record or plot speeds over 90 MPH?

You have to change your settings on the graph to above that. I think the max is like 158mph.

I just picked up a unit and had this same question - unfortunately all the threads that look like they may have some meaningfull information are referenced in the old phpBB, and none of the links work. Luckily I found this one.

I'll post to this one when I get some more data.

Man this would be SO SWEET if it could log faster rates...too bad. It's still a really cool tool though!
