15% Pulley... can't tell the difference
 

I've put on about 250 miles since my Alta 15% was installed and haven't really noticed a difference. I had the pulley done at about 800 miles and now am at about 1050. She's not "broken in" yet so I haven't done any WOT driving. I think there's a little more torque but it doesn't seem like there was much change from before the pulley. Am I expecting too much? Do I need to "break in" the car before I notice anything?

Yes and yes. With the 15%, you really do need to break it in first. You'll notice the extra power the most when you floor it and higher RPMs. (both of which you're not supposed to do until broken in). Sure any pulley helps at all RPMs but the 15% is really noticeable above 4500 RPMs and abouve 5k ROMs for sure. Finish up those break-in miles and then let er rip!:grin:

you really don't build boost unless it is at WOT and then at >3000 rpm it happens. It will all be new, since you haven't even seen the effects of the stock pulley if you have been babying it. find some open road and get ready for a surprise.

Thanks for the responses so far. Any recommendations on what to do next? She'll be used strictly for street use. Looking at improving performance/handling. I was thinking of a rear sway bar. Suggestions?

MTH your car it will help the ECU handle the extra 4-5 PSI you getting from the Pulley upgrade. IMHO it helps smooth the engine out in the high rev's then put a 22MM RSPEED rear swaybar on your car. Man you wont believe it!!!!!!

there is not "break in" period on the pulley....there isnt.....you should get a boost gauge so you can see what PSI your running....if it isnt higher then 10psi then you have a problem.....the 15% isnt a huge different because is only a 1 to 3 psi up from stock 10psi...were on the 19% is a 7psi up from stock.....the 15% is more of a track pulley were the 19% is a drive around and have fun pulley...while ripping the tires loose though 2nd.... sorry....

There is a break in period for the car though since he's only at 1050 miles. greatgro's point was that he should observe MINI's break in period and that once that was over (and he could go over 4500 rpm), then that's where the pulley would be noticed.

Right no one said there was a break-in for the pulley! He's still breaking the CAR in!!:lol: He just hit 1000miles. :grin:

Since you had the reduccion pulley installed before completing the motor brake in then you don't have the ability to compare the stock pulley vs. the 15% reduccion pulley anyway. You didn't miss anything, the 15% pulley is awsome.

15% was not a eye popping difference, but it made the car feel lighter and livelier which is exactly what I was looking for. :smile:

I agree... I have a 19%, but still, with any aftermarket pulley, you're definitely not missing anything :thumbsup:
