Injectors, tuning questions

Hey I'm just looking for some advice on what I should do to complete my 03 r53.

Current mods are:
15% sc pulley
0% Alta crank pulley
Cold air intake
Colder step plugs
valeo single mass flywheel (irrelevant)

The car runs great except for the 2800rpm hesitation.

I'm 99% sure I am going with an Rwm remote tune. Should I upgrade my stock injectors to JCW 380s, go with the rmw 450s, or leave them stock for the tune? Car is for street use/ daily driving and is plenty fast for now. I'm getting about 22 mpg, and I don't want that to drop. The tune would be to smooth out the acceleration band and to make the car run more efficient. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

I would ditch the Alta Crank pulley - they are solid (and supposed to be lighter) but I have seen them crack as the dont handle the engine vibrations well.

I would look for a set of 380cc JCW injectors and a JCW factory tune if you want best bang for the least amount of work, dollars and headache.

Some dealers are weird about doing a JCW tune on a none JCW so talk to your local dealer, maybe buying the injectors from them and having them do the install will make them more agreeable.

As to mileage I have seen a slight increase in mileage from a tune in certain areas (mainly cruising on the hwy).

If you think you'll never add a Cam or BVH, go with the 380's, if you think you may one day do one of those other upgrades, skip the 450's and go to the 550's up front.
Remember, anything over the 380's will require a tune, so anything happened to that tune, it either needs to be reinstalled, a new line installed, or the injectors will have to be swapped back for the car to run, so if you ever take the car to a dealer, they NEED to know not to flash updates.

Thanks for the tips. I do not plan on any further mods, so if I go with new injectors I will get the 380's. Now to find them.

Any reason not to get something like this?

If it were me I will want to get to the bottom of this before entertaining a tune. Hesitation at this RPM is a major bummer, no matter how good the tune is.

From what I have read/ researched on NAM and other forums, this is a common issue in most r53's that the rmw tune solves.

I would also recommend ditching the lightweight Alta crank pulley as it is not only hard on the bearings and oil pump, but also messes with the tuning so going to an ATI damper will smooth it out and actually gain you.

For the hesitation that is a fuel dip built into the ECU so a tune should take care of it.
