Dinan Cowl Induction and Throttle Body
 

Wondering if anyone has installed a Dinan induction system or throttle body on an '05 S yet? I spoke with a dealer and he said that the current Dinan stuff was not yet released for '05 cars...

If so, were any self-installed? I'm wondering how difficult that would be. I've been able to install new springs and the rear anti-roll bar myself so far...

I installed the intake back in July-August on my 04, and the throttle body last Friday. Depending on how comfortable you are taking the car apart, it can be a little intimidating, but overall it was pretty easy.

If you install the stuff yourself, do they still honor the warranty?

talk about bringin a old thread back....Yes....your covered if its a parts failure and not a installation error

But what if the part that failed was installed on a car ('05) for which the part was not supposed to installed on? Would the warranty cover a replacement part (that arguably would fail yet again...)????

Or would that fall under "Installation Error" since you installed it in the wrong model car.

I'm actually at the same point. I'm considering performance upgrades, but purchased the extended warrenty. My dealer is Mini of Nashville, which happens to be a Dinan shop. I'm considering the Dinan CAI, exhaust, and maybe pulley. Any issues with installation on an 05?

In any event, that probably wouldn't get you warranty coverage....:grin:

Other than that Dinan doesn't provide warranty coverage (for the '05s), they probably all should work. It is not as if you are doing anything radical. I imagine the real decision is the dealer's - if they want to install everything, then they are on the hook for anything that biffs.

how do you figure....Dinan covers any of there products even if you install it yourself. just not if its installed on the wrong vehicle.

:eek: Ok the wrong car installation crack was an attempt at light humor / sarcasm. Didn't sound like everyone took it that way.

Wouldn't the wrong vehicle qualify as a car that was built after the period of exclusion? For example, if Dinan specify their s/c reduction pulley for cars built through 12/2004 and you install the pulley on a car built in say, 3/2005. If the s/c tanks (lets say for discussion, the s/c seizes), do you think that Dinan would cover the failure, since you installed their part in violation of their application specification (on a car that built after the cut-off date that they published)?

No.....You are not covered

I think we are saying the same thing - that installing Dinan parts on a vehicle for which they were not intended (such as a production date that is outside the approved date range from Dinan) does not get you Dinan warranty coverage for any issues that might develop?

I have the CAI and lug wires coming now... going to do the TB when I can... and the pulley upgrade / stage 5 early next year...
