AEM Air Intake..have a look plz
5 Attachment(s)
I bought AEM Air Intake from eBay and fixed well in my 2013 R56 S...few months later a code existed on the screen and I scanned it..many reasons caused that code (I forgot the code number).
I changed some parts then suddenly I discovered a leak somewhere in the air intake plastic pipe (have a look to the photo attached). I took it out and by using a heat gun I return it as it was (round shape) and scan again (the code disappeared) later on, I got the same code and found that the sake problem existed again!!! I decided to try to fix it by putting a metal pipe inside the plastic one to support it (have a look to the photo attached) and it working well now  What do u think the problem that caused that thing? Any other ideas to fix that one? (mo dealer, no workshops or factories to make a new one) here in my country Thank u |
My guess is that the boot clamp that mounts to that elbow was over-tightened, and when the engine got to operating temperature, it buckled. With your pipe insert, should be better. Could try contacting AEM to see if they have any insight, or will sell you a replacement.
Engine bay is pretty dirty dusty, too... |
Thank u for replying..u r right It’s hot here these days (40-50 C)+ school exams (my 4 kids)..etc I will wash it later 😂😂😂 |

Never seen that happen before, but I agree looks like clamp was over tightened and caused it. Looks like you got a fix now though.

Nice fix! Might want use a file or some sandpaper to smooth out the rough edges though.
