Rear JCW Rotor kit from Way Motor Works Brake Pad Compatibly
I’m looking to upgrade my rear brakes with the JCW kit from WMW:
https://www.waymotorworks.com/wmw-bi...7-r58-r59.html
Question: Do I need to get JCW rear brake pads, or will my S pads fit?
My brake path for this spring is to get EBC redstuff pad set, use my stock S front brakes, and get the JCW rotors and brackets for the rear.

outmotoring.com says it's the same rear pads as an S. Just the rotor and caliper carrier are different.
https://www.outmotoring.com/brake-pa...5-6-7-8-9.html
"Factory genuine MINI rear brake pads complete and ready to install. Be sure to check the thickness of the rotor to make sure it is in spec and as needed purchase new rotors as well. This kit contains both the rear right and rear left brake pads. Please note JCW model REAR pads are the same as the Cooper and Cooper S for the Gen2. These pads fit all of the models listed below- as well as the JCW model."

Thanks.
I know the calipers are interchangeable, only difference being the color. However, RealOEM calls out different part numbers for brake pads between S and JCW sport brakes:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=34_1564
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=03_0044
Wasn’t sure if the pads were interchangeable or not.

Our kit there just has the brackets to move the calipers out like the JCW. You will use your existing S calipers.
The Standard S and JCW rear brakes use the same pad so it doesn't matter
Here are the reds just select rear

I wouldn't say crazy but it may not be as much of an upgrade as you think. The actual surface area making contact hasn't changed because the pad and caliper are the same. Plus most of the braking is done by the front anyway.

Thanks for the response. I've been thinking about it more last night, and I might just pass on the "upgrade" to save the cash for other mods. Throw in a good set of pads and call it a day.

Just wait for a JCW front brake kit to pop up used. That's what I did, so now I have the 4 pot JCW fronts with stock Cooper S rears. I'll do the rear upgrade when I need to replace the rear discs just to fill out the rear wheels more, but that's just me.

However, I am in need of a brake replacement now and I don't have the resources for the front upgrade at the moment. So, I'll do the daily driver upgrade now, and the performance upgrade laters.

I agree. My feeling is in the future they will discontinue them and make them only avail with the calipers. So right now they feel expensive, but if we have to get calipers too they will get crazy.
