Very quietly prices are dropping...

Maybe some of you have noticed that the cost of modding our MINIs is dropping. I just wanted to comment that FINALLY I might one day be able to afford a bigger TMIC. There are finally reasonable prices for big swaybars, pulleys, and even exhausts.

I hopped over to jscspeed.com yesterday and noticed a few things:
1) ALTA TMIC is $765!
2) ALTA 22mm rear adjustable bar is $155! (I paid this much for my H&R 19mm adjustable only a few months ago at jscspeed)
3) ALTA pulleys are $105, and
4) Even ALTA intakes WITH HOSE are $235 (actually this has been their price for several months on that site - same with the ALTA adj. SS price of $180).

Plus, the Megan Racing exhaust is out for $420.

GIAC is $325. MTH chiptune is even less.

Hell, I am even contemplating going to the bigger ALTA bar even after purchasing the (smaller) H&R bar not that long ago. Hmmm.

Just wanted to get a little giddy that prices on SOME stuff is finally coming down. Just in time for the new motor next summer...

Did you happen to notice the part about how the tmic no longer comes with silicone ends? I was in retail for a long time, and the primary reason that prices "start coming down" is that .....they aren't selling, for whatever reason.Either because they were overstocked,or there are now so many places to buy the product ,that the market is becoming saturated............and as you pointed out the motor is due for a major redesign.I think we will all see this as a major trend as time marches on, not to mention the "soft" economy at the moment.

when the GRSmotorsport TMIC came out I kinda expected this. The ALTA still lists for $999 on their own website...sheesh! And yeah, no new silicone boots, but whatever, that thing is just barely getting into a decent price range. Perrin makes lots of i/c's for other cars and the price points are pretty good. Until a $500 TMIC comes out, I'll still be asking myself whether or not to get the ALTA at the jscspeed price!

that ALTA bar is looking more and more tempting, however...
