60 to 80 times in third gear

Help me out guys...I'm waiting for my Unichip to return from the shop. In the mean time I've got a base line time from 60 to 80 in third gear averaging 4.12 sec. from 5 runs, 78 ambient. I set the cruise at 60 and wait for the countdown then WOT. What have you guys managed with or without ECU? Any mods/configuration would be helpful. Autoweek recently timed the EVO at 4.00 and the R32 at 5.32 (slow). I have everything else except ported head/valves/cam/ECU mod.

Hey..
First keep in mind that I can only do calcs in metric from my performance monitors..

Here is what I get.

From 90-130 KPH I get 4.26

That is about 55-80

The time from 90-100 is 1.1 second

The time you need it 95-130

So I would estimate that I get about 3.71-3.80

This is with our intake, Ignition System, Basic Version Cylinder Head, Stock Valves, Megan Racing Exhaust system, and a 19% pulley and stock software.

Thanks Dan! Very much appreciate the information. I have 15% pully and stock ECU. I'm looking forward to see what the Unichip will do for me in this fall ambient temp. Will post when I get the results. I'll do a metric run and compare it with yours

Im interested in seeing how well the Unichip's parameter will hold up to
winterized gas in your area. Im thinking you're going to hit limp mode
on occasion...

Sid,

I just installed the Webb Motorsports Unichip and am VERY pleased on the results. It seems to have tied in all the aftermarket upgrades that I made and has brought out their peck performance. I would say that it’s about the best upgrade I’ve done.

I am not suprised by the EVO numbers. The astronomically low 0-60 times that you see from the EVO is revving the car to 5,000+ and dumping the clutch, with little to now wheel spin. The car in and of itself is not as fast as the 0-60 numbers show. In Fact, a JCW in 5-60mph is just a little slower than an EVO in 5-60, only about a half second apart, which is a lot less than the 2+seconds that a 0-60 times show.

Let us know how the Unichip turns out.

Finally...got my Unichip back Reinstalled the unit and reset the ECU before heading out. Ambient temp, 58, 820 ft. Five run average resulted in 3.71. My prior runs without Unichip, ambient 78, same elevation was around 4.20. I know the cooler temp helped a lot so I'll try it again when it's warmer. I'll also check the 90-130kph and 95-130kph another time. Wish I could do a custom map and add a Cryo system now

Anyone else have notes to compare?

That difference is probably coming more from the ambient temps.
How about throttle response? Does it feel more 'active'? That's how my
car felt when I had the Unichip on there.

Cryo is good for drag racing, but you use up c02 or n20 VERY QUICKLY
when you use it. I know because I had a kit on my WRX when I had
that car. I would recommend a water spray kit if you can get your
hands on one.

No, there was a difference on my car. The only reason I sold it because
there were no local tuners that could do DASTEK in my area. Im still looking
into SAFC, but need to do more research.

Hmm, Just drive in southern California on the freeway in the right lane with traffic. You'd be going at least 80. You could time the on ramp entry from 60 to 80 mph. Don't drive at 80 in the fast lane

Only the fast drivers go in the "FAST" lane.

Hey our freeway speed limit is sometimes 45.
How can that be in 2004? Is that a bicycle speed limit? No.
More like a speed trap.

Being that I regularly hit speeds well in excess of this on my bicycle I'd have to say yes.

...But I hear ya man!

Ok here is the data.... air temp 68

60-80 3rd gear

3.3 and 3.2
2.9 and 2.8 on nitrous
car was showing a 10-1 on air fuel mixture... pig rich at WOT
I am sure there are plenty of ponies left out there.... wanting to get the software put in Ecu along w/M7 air intake.... then retest...

Ok I tried this at 5:30am.

THIRD GEAR
50 Degrees F.
60-80.......3.81
Elevation.......A best guess - around 1000 Feet.

And for fun...

FOURTH GEAR
50 Degrees F.
60-80.......4.47
MODS: 19% pulley, Madness intake, UUC exhaust.
Wheels/Tires (prob most important): S-Lites with All-Season Goodyears

I was pleased with the results but I'm sure lighter/stickier tires would have cut the times considerably.

Also tried 30-50 in first but was impossible due to traction/wheel slip. I kept hitting the rev limiter by 40. Will try in 2nd gear soon.

Greatgo,

With your statement on stickier tires, are you saying that you were getting wheel spin in third gear at 60 miles on hour?, wheel spin in fourth gear at 60mph? I find that hard to believe.
