Forge bov

Hey everyone I need your help! Just got a ManicTune Stage 2. Because of this I am looking to upgrade my "blow off valve" (BOV). The question i can't seem to find the answer to is what is the difference between the Forge FMDVR60"A" and the FMDVR60"R"... I knoe the "A" is atmospheric and the "R" is recirculation... But what one do I want?

Thanks!

You have to ask yourself if you want to hear it or not. No other difference than that.

Which one do you hear? I ask as I know nothing about blow off valves.

The "atmospheric" valve vents out, and makes more noise. The "recirculating" valve vent in, and is quieter.

One thing to highlight is that the atmospheric tends cause your MINI to throw a code and your CEL will come on.

Um... no, it doesn't.

I've personally installed the Forge atmospheric into three different cars, both N14 and N18 and have not seen a CEL on any of them. One of those cars is my personal daily driver, and I have at least 15,000 miles on the set-up with no issues.

In all my research, the only atmospheric valves that caused issues were the one that replaced the early sound tube off the intake manifold, or a damaged OEM diverter valve that leaked. I haven't seen any issues from the Forge replacement valves that were installed correctly.
