The Dinan is a major enhancement to my driving enjoyment. The iPhone app is funky. I've been running on Race (4psi boost) using 91octane in SoCal. Smooth and fun, especially when the car is in Sport mode.
Dinan is responsive to queries but they need better documentation and the blue tooth does not work well. I'm sure one of the issues is the Dinan blue tooth is competing with other signals.
But the tuner box works as advertised as far as butt dyno joy. And now that my knuckles have healed from working the TMAP plug in, life is good.

I can tell you that it pulls hard and steady starting just over 2,000 up to 4,500.
And on the freeway in Sport Mode, using the paddles for manual shifting, passing acceleration between 2,500 and 3,500 is sweet and linear and MUCH stronger than without the Dinan. I ran in Sport+ until I was confident all was cool. Then I switched to Race and the 4PSI feels stronger. I figured since the JB units go higher than 4, I'd be safe. Feeling confident that all is well with 91 octane Chevron gas, though I bet 93 would give a little more, especially in the summer when it gets warmer.
Also, off the line from a stop light takes a blink to hit 40MPH, so I'd say this little Dinan box is definitely doin' some good voodoo. Even starting below 2,000RPM.

If one took the time and trouble to remove more parts it would be easier. But simply removing the air ducting is suffecient if you've got your screwdriver and long needle nose ready to assist with lining up and inserting the plug.
I lost the gray latch piece on the factory plug down into the depths because I pushed it out too far, but everything clicked in and is holding nicely. Overall, quick and easy. But be advised, there are many unseen sharp edges just waiting to bite your knuckles

I do - I've had it for over a year now, but had to recently take it off because it threw a code. I like the multiple settings Dinan has on theirs though. On the NM, it's either LOW or HIGH and LOW feels like it could have more punch and HIGH is almost too much and they recommend 100 octane for HIGH, which I never ran and had no problems, but you lose some top end on 92.

I think low on the NM is +3, which is the same as Dinan Sport+.
If you threw a code, I'd call Jerry at NM, as he was pretty confident in the integrity of the NM box.

I also recall reading that the JB4 MAP1 is +4 and the MAP2 is +6.
It's looking to me like for those of us who don't race and don't use high octane fuel, +4 is the highest sweet spot, with +3 fun but well in the safe zone.
What I have observed with the Dinan, butt dyno-wise, is +3psi is smooth and definitely adds noticeable punch and is fun, whereas Race (+4psi) is just a bit more edgy, and more satisfying. All this on 91 octane SoCal top tier pump gas from the corner gas station.

I just installed my Dinan module and had some questions. With the module in race mode what sort of psi readings should I be seeing in race mode? I've compared stock and race and the max I'm getting is 10psi. I'm also not noticing much of a difference between the two modes. Does it take some time for the module to kick in or is it instantaneous?

For the first 100 miles I kept my Dinan in Sport+ (+3PSI) until I was confident the car was happy. I then switched to Race (+4PSI) where I've stayed, using top tier, pump 91 winter blend gas here in SoCal. No issues, lots of extra boost felt in the butt dyno.
I have talked with Dan at Dinan regarding funky readings on the iPhone app. The general consensus is that different Blue Tooth devices compete for signal and sometimes a phone can mess with the data flow from the Dinan.
Who knows? I did see over 18, as I said, and I took a screen shot of a 13PSI reading I got when I was first messing with the Dinan app.
Make sure you have the latest app version. If you don't, you need to delete the old version, download the new version, SHUT OFF YOUR PHONE after the download and then re-boot your phone before syncing the Dinan box to the app. And it is important that the red light is off on the Dinan box before you power up the car to do the sync.
If you are stymied, call Dan at Dinan. He's helpful.

I've gone over 18PSI in race mode at a little under 5,000 RPM under hard acceleration in Sport Mode, as measured by the Dinan iPhone app.

Thanks for the reply, things seemed to be working after I just left it alone in one mode for an extended period of time. The app freezes on me even after removing and reinstalling it. I'm not going to use it for now except to switch modes.

It's even worse than security through obscurity. It's no security at all!
This did give me pause, but practically speaking the threat is very low. An attacker could discover it easily enough using a Bluetooth scanner app such as LightBlue, and then connect using the Dinan app... but is anyone really likely to go about looking for open cars? Probably not.
If this was a factory feature I would be screaming bloody murder, because every MINI would be vulnerable. But it's not, it's an add on which isn't really widely used. If someone wants to make my car go slower, it's easier to slash the tires.
