Is an '07 and up auto non-cvt tranny the same as the '05 S?

I'm wanting to buy a spare tranny for my '05 Mini Cooper S, and I've found a great buy for an '07 auto tranny. Are they plug and play regardless of paddle shifters and S versus non-S?

Yes they come from the same manufacturer (Aisin) but they are not the same transmission. By "07 and up", I assume you mean an R56 hardtop (the 07-08 R52 S convertible does have a compatible transmission with yours).

No, its similar in design , but things did change on the Aisin through Generations. Keep searching 2002-2006 MCS auto , they pop up from time to time. 24007548536 MINI part number for reference.

No, but try searching for a transmission on www.car-part.com.

Thanks for the info guys. I flipped the car on Sunday for some quick profit, and I'll be grabbing up a 6-speed car as soon as I locate a good deal on one. I really don't want the risks associated with the auto's.

Thanks. I'm trying to seal the deal on an '07 convertible with 86k miles. It's an "S" model. Too bad it's not the turbo version though.
