Resonator's

I was reading on some BMW forums that the cheap and easy performance mod to do is to remove 1 of the resonator's on the stock exhaust. Do the MCS's have any resonator's on the stock system that can be removed for a slight bit more punch and sound?

thanks,
scott:grin:

Search under the "one ball" mod. The MCS system can be modified by manufacturing a couple of flanges and a by-pass of part of the exhaust. Or you could just get an aftermarket cat-back.

My experience is with the JCW exhaust. I had both resonators removed two weeks ago at a cost of $65. The stock JCW exhaust is quiet, exceptionally polite making it a very nice tone. Without the resonators it is still a polite exhaust, much louder and still has a nice tone - just more of it.
On the power side of the equation: Yea, there's definitely more since the system is now more straight through; kinda reminds me of the Abarth I had on my Sprite. A week after having the resonators removed I added an Alta and the power, measured by the seat of the pants dyno, is obvoius. Punch it and she screeeeeeeeeeeeeams. :eek2:
I'm happy with the changes.
