For those that are worried that this wouldn't work because you have the Craven Koala Intake Manifold Spacer, all you really need is a longer silicone hose to make up for the gap between the MAF and the upper CF intake pipe. Took about 40-45 mins or so, but should easily be done in 30 if you've done it enough times.

Thanks for the pictures. I was wondering if it would work with the catch can. Just another reason to get rid of my DDM intake. This is much more professional finished looking part.

Engine bay shot.

Good luck everyone everybody, and those that have this intake, enjoy it's beauty.

rafanatic - thanks for the nice honest review.

Looks great.

Pm me your info , so we can get you that washer you dropped.

Another helpful tip step #15 : On closing the ECS CF clam-shell lid ( upper and lower half ) , line up the slotted gasket( on the top intake side) as close as possible, test a couple times open and close making sure hooking those back 3 tabs each time then close the top lid. You can then wiggle the top lid ( while closed) a hair to get that third hole to line up easier. Then start one screw at a time with the washers.

On the step number #6 , is you have the engine bay warm or the factory main inlet tube warm ( 13712753070 ) from being in garage or somethings, the tube has more flex its easier to insert pinch method, insert , then let go. If it outside and cold , its a little more work, as the tube does not flex as much.

Thanks

Thanks, I sent you a pm. I worked on it when I got off of work so it was fairly hot and my hand rubbed against the hpfp a few times so it was a good thing I had Mechanix gloves. I felt it was easier to just do it outside the engine bay. And to note, I think if I adjusted that gasket a bit more, I'm sure the holes would have lined up perfectly come to think of it.

Overall, great quality product and finish comparable to those you see from high-end japanese tuners like Gruppe-M or 3D-Design, at probably half the price.

rafanatic,
Looks great and thanks for the write up. I look forward to receiving my kit soon. I will be replacing my JCW cone intake with this as well.

Your engine bay looks clean compared to mine... nasty, salty NE winter!

Missing Screw and Wwasher

Mine arrived a few days ago but is missing one of the screws and washers. ECS, is this something that I can get locally? If so, what are the specs on that screw? I plan to install it tomorrow. I have the JCW strut brace so I will post a photo of it when finished.

Installed today

The install went really quick and easy. I also only received 2 of the 3 screws. The two included screws were impossible to screw into the threads, but luckily I had three spare machine screws that fit perfectly.

Just finished the install tonight. No test drive till tomorrow morning.

Great looking product ECS. A bit too steep for me right now, but gorgeous nonetheless.

Yes. The strut bar is above. The intake box fits below it with plenty of clearance. I did need to undo one side of the bar and push the bar up to do the installation.

First drive

I took a drive this morning and I did perceive an improvement in acceleration. My 2013 fJCW r55 just had a panel filter, not a cone filter. There was little to no audible difference that I could detect. It's hard to explain exactly what changed, but there was definitely a sense that the car was breathing with less restriction.

Looks fantastic Lantz, Your engine bay looks very clean. On the N14 JCW cars we noticed a little more feedback on the intake noise burble when in sport mode. Sounded great.

jkapinos - yep it fits with the JCW Strut Tower Brace. It was marked in the item description.

Please add to cart and then on checkout select the type of shipment you prefer. It should show you the cost. Free Ship is for contiguous US only.

http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/ES2719002/

Note: This has not been test fitted to a Euro MINI or RHD, I know most items in the engine bay are similar, but I also know that some JCW models have a MAF blank tube ( 13710429383 ) and Cooper S No MAF at all, which is almost the same size length wise. On the US version the MAF connects to the upper tube via the silicone hose connection. So keep that in mind. Check out our install PDF and compare to your MINI , its linked on here.

#13 MAF Blank

No MAF at all. Some Euro Cooper S . Has Longer tube extension where the MAF would be.

If you have any other issues for payment on checkout please contact our customer service. customerservice@ecstuning.com and they can help more.

Thanks

I just installed the ECS CF Intake on my R60S ALL4. Very easy install minus the lower intake tube as ra2fanatic pointed out.

I was working inside a garage after the car was warm and couldn't get it to work. I did the same...removed the stock tube and took a heat gun to it. Slipped in like butter after that. There was no way of getting the new CF lower tube to slip over the stock tube without removing and heating up.

Really nice looking intake. Will do some road tests later.
