Aftermarket intercoolers won't work with automatics?
Looking for aftermarket intercoolers for my girlfriends r53, 2006 MCS with automatic transmission. Wondering why the intercoolers listed on outmotoring only work with manual transmission. Thinking about just getting a diverter with maybe a larger scoop..
Thanks |
Big intercoolers will work on the AT, you have to get the right one like the GP and remove the plastic from the hood for extra clearance.

I wouldn't see why they wouldn't work with the automatic tranny, nothing attaches to the intercooler except the intercooler boots and clamps.
that being said, do you need a new intercooler? I have a diverter and it seems like it spreads the air across the intercooler more than the stock. even in the hot summer days I rarely need it |

The motor sits slightly higher and about an inch further to one side ..so a bit less clearance...
That's WHY some will not fit. ah that will do it, didn't realize the auto tranny had different mounts and the GP intercooler is better, and to most people, the best |
