I don't go by what companies numbers for intakes are. I want to see true dynos done by the customer to see actual gains. Hence, I went back to my stock box after having an open intake.

I am intrigued, I will do some dyno runs with the stock and with the alta open filter. I do have a few other mods, however.

Dave, I've seen those videos. Those guys are hilarious. Do they show that show here in the states? The one thing those guys didn't test, and may not realistically be able to, is how these filters perform over time. During the entire time between service periods. Many manufacturers claim that as their filters get dirty, they don't lose flow like standard paper filters. Its an interesting concept anyways.

Rob, what filter are you running in your stock box? I had thought maybe just running a foam panel filter, but it looks like most of those are oiled as well.

Do you attribute your loss (via buttometer) to hotter air from the engine being sucked in through an open air intake?

I'm running a K&N panel filter but going to purchase an aFe dry panel filter next time.

I think it was from hot air sucked in, and loss of torque in the low end but gained a little more power in the high end, from via butt dyno.

Cool.

The open air setup that you ran, what was it? Did you have a filter sitting in the lower stock box? That's what I was considering doing on mine.

It was a DDM street intake. If you don't want to lose power go get an AEM closed ram intake or find a DoS intake.

Ultimately, that's what I'd like to have but its not in the budget right now. Just trying to change the filter to something a little better flowing.

Sound is less of a concern to me.

It seems that whether you are losing/gaining HP, you wouldn't feel it anyways. What you do feel (or hear rather) are a lot of really cool sounds. I am still not convinced it doesnt help in certain situations. After putting mine on, it felt faster, but either way a butt dyno is hardly a precisely calibrated machine

I am really interested in some dyno graphs
