Need some advice. It will probably be a month or two before I can get some jcw injectors but as of now I have,
15% pulley
Msd ignition
-1 degree colder Ngk iridiums
Ngk 8mm wires
Nvidia cat back exhaust
Gutted catalytic converter
Samco intake hose
Ddmworks cai
So was wondering if I had wmw tune my ecu should I bother with larger injectors or keep the stock injectors and get it tuned now? Would I notice any hp gains? Since this is a flash tune rather than a dyno tune I wasn't sure. Thanks in advance -2002 mcs r53

when you put the JCW injectors in, you could get the cheaper option for the JCW tune, a full custom dyno tune is not necessary

With Way's tune and stock injectors, I run up to 7K redline w/o issue. These cars run rich anyway and with the tune, Way has me covered with the proper AFRs.

get a real tune, a dyno tune specific to your car, every car is different, and reacts different, just like "cobb" tunes for subarus their basic stage 2 tune is decent, and is safe bringing 180whp to 210, but a real dyno flash will get you closer to 230 with them.

Here my my dyno before/after a dyno session tune

Make sure your engine is up to snuff before squeezing more power out of it. I'd recommend a compression test & a leak down test. If all is well I'd put the JCW injectors in & then tune.

When it comes to cars and modding, if you know it's safe, patience will often not only save you cash, but stress also.
Basically, don't get impatient, figure out what you really want your end goals to be, than work your tune in accordingly.
You won't ness. need the injectors with what you've got, but they wouldn't hurt, esp. if you think you may go further.
And yes, a custom dyno tune is always better, but as stated earlier, Way's tune will be plenty safe.

Wow how could ur car only have 175hp with all those mods? I thought the pulley alone added 20? Don't our r53's have 163 stock? Man too bad we didn't all just get 2.0s in our cars. Then I will hold off for jcw but will disappointed if all this money and all these parts equates to anything <200 :(
I was planning on full rebuild of my engine next year and throwing on sprintex at the same time then taking my car out to wmw for dyno tuning.
1.8 stroker, 20-22psi? Need forged internals, arp bolts in everything, bored and larger valve head with aggressive cam. Then I be lucky to see 250?? Seems like a high dollar to hp conversion. I think my car is underpowered right now verse what it should have. I have a video of when I first got it and you can watch the video and see that it definitely accelerates slower today then it did then. Is the nvidia exhausts resonator very restrictive? I just want to be 240-280hp range I knew I would be lucky to see 210 now but not barely see 190-200. There are no tuners here in Missouri that I would trust with my mini. I had a shop tune my Suzuki and pushed a little over 300hp. Then I sold that car and now I'm just craving something that pulls. My Suzuki smashed my mini in a highway pull. But the mini took my Suzuki in every other category.

My minis engine is in relatively good shape, no smoke, doesn't burn oil. There is a small leak at the oil filter housing. Other than that though there isn't anything wrong. She drives smooth. Just feels like I'm not gaining power as I bolt more mods on. I keep hearing the mcs are super rich but by now with all these mods shouldn't my increased air flow be pulling in enough of a gain to lean it out some? Or is it just readjusting?

Some cars do VERY well with a custom tune....
Some do BARELY more than stock....
Remember...
The stock 163/170 hp numbers is to THE CRANK....so no mods...more like 150ish on a dyno...
Dyno numbers are to the wheels....
Most folks seem to do 180 ish with a pulley....about 200 tuned with typical mods...
But key is typical.....
On my dyno day...a mini with a cam and meth made less hp than mine....
Depends on the motor....and how well it was built and cared for....

Yup, the factory JCW (210) is only about 165 whp, so those numbers aren't that far off, hp numbers on the Mini can be very deceiving, a true 225+ whp Mini will flat fly, and 235 ish, gives you the same power to weight ratio of an M3, as far as bigger motors, for the avg. person the stock S is plenty fast, we're just not normal.
