My brother and I traded MINI's for a day (both manuals). His stock '07 S for my '11 S with an intake and JB+. I was shocked at how slow his S felt. It's just gutless. how did I ever live like that? The best feeling is lightly pressing the accelerator when in 6th on the highway and feeling that rush of torque. Mmmm...

is it safe to run JB+ at 60% running just 93octane?

Follow Terry's recommendations and there should be no need to worry. Wander outside of it and you should keep an eye out for timing, even if only slightly increasing the JB+ past the 50% default.

Yes I'm doing that but once you get to 70% then e85 is a must. Enjoy it!

I set mine to about 70% with 96oct pure gas ( no corn squeezins ) and I only
gained maybe .5 pounds of boost, so I went back to 50% and 93 with 10% ethanol ( or whatever mix they have up to 10% )

Still get 2.5 pounds more than stock, like 18.5 vs 16

Had to buy the wife one for her hardtop too. Love the SIMPLICITY of the JB+

still lovin' it

I dialed back to 40% and am using only 91octane(pure, no "E"). Unfortunately 91 is the highest it gets around here.

Seems like it's slightly less strong than the 70% I had set when I was using with 70/30 [91(pure)/E85]. But peace of mind is ruling out... for now + I can always go back up on the dial!!
It's still so much darn better then stock. I intend to do some 6th gear roll-ons with various settings to try and get some data and not just rely on my calibrated butt, lol. Just looking for the stars to align in the schedule....

All in all - still lovin' it!

CARB (California Air Resources Board) orders BMS (Burger Tuning)

to cease and desist the sale of BMW Aftermarket Performance Parts..... This sucks, for folks in California. I was born and raised in Northern California, it's sad to see the car industry - in arguably the car capital of the world - in a literal choke hold.

That being said I still plan on ordering the BMS tune for my R56..

Cali sure loves hybrid cars especially in SF the buses are electric and run on wires lol. That was a bit weird coming from the Motor City where we don't care about clean air.

You'll enjoy the JB+

I just ordered a JB+ today for my newly purchased MCS. I'm coming from the supercharged V8 scene so this 4 cylinder stuff is new to me.

just imagine your center speedo as one huge boost gauge once you're above 5psi. every 10mph is 1psi of boost. it'll stay as your boost gauge until you're off boost for a certain duration. there's gotta be some vids on YouTube.

Problem is using speedo your limited to 16 pounds,
I hit 18 19 with JB +

I'm fully cranked at the JB pot and all seems well with the CAN TOOL. It's showing stable AFR and I'm maxing out timing at the top of every gear I can wind out.....but I'd love a more detail view of what's going down.
I think u just need an OBDII interface module like the ELM unit that's talked about in this thread. I just ordered one from eBay for under $20

Got the JB+ in today and just got it installed. Can't wait to get out and drive it to get the full boost out!

Also got an UltraGuage and install it. I decided to go dedicated with the OBDII instead of a module. Still have to get that all set up.

Which UG did you get? The original one I had would not read pending or trouble codes. They recently upgraded mine to the EM plus which now read the codes perfectly.

Find burgermotorsports on YouTube, I know there's a gauge hijack video on there where the big Speedo was showing A/F ratio. So 12.0 would show as 120 mph. Boost shows as 0-16 psi but Terry also has a CAN tool update to change the scale but you gotta buy the proprietary BMS usb cable to update the CT. You can also show timing advance 0-16 degrees. IAT and throttle aren't implemented yet for the mini.

i just got a CEL yesterday, have not had time to read what the code is yet, will probably check it out today, i think im going to dial it back at 50%, but i do not seem worried, the engine is still at full power so well see what code i am throwing

I got the EM v1.2. I only had time to hook it up last night so I haven't played around with the settings yet. Hopefully mine will read codes.

P0171 was the code I am getting, system too lean (bank 1) I am going to turn down JB+ to 50% and clear the code and see what happens from there, what should I have my gauges set to, to monitor this? I currently have my fuel gauge set for the boost gauge.
