Did a JB+ install on a local automatic. I raced around the block a few times and it felt good to me at various throttle positions. He's going to drive it for a week and report back.

I have regular dyno's with hp/tq across rpm but no boost on it. I was reading boost directly off a boost gauge.

The tunes were not dyno tweaked - just canned for mods by Alta. I had a larger (alta) intercooler. (for both the 07 S and 09 JCW)

Here is the dyno for the 09 JCW (measured at the wheels)

Can't wait for this....already have an aquamist kit...the car is ready to handle the extra boost safely.

It's loving the 100 degree heat with the meth.

Yes, I expect it will be an issue. So I would not use any of our tuning products on something already tuned until we're able to fully explore how they might work together.

But, the CAN Tool will be a great addition for you.

Borrowed an N14 for a bit and was able to get the CAN Tool programmed for it. I also poked around at the tuning and the sensors / DME logic is very different than the N18 so at least for now we won't commit to doing any tuning for them. Realistically the Cobb AP is the best tuning solution for N14 owners currently. I'm not sure why Alta has a strangle hold on the tuning interface but hopefully Cobb releases it to other tuners. I'd be happy to help make you guys a rocking AP map if they'd release the editor software to us.

There is an ECU update for the R60 to address the early brake service light. I held off on this update purposely until the JB comes out so that I can then go back to stock. As Terry mentioned earlier there is beta test on the autos that seems promising. This way I can move away from the issues I have with my current tune. Now I am wondering why my current tune has the issues in the first place...

can you elaborate what the issue is with autos and the nm tune? i've read about it, but haven't come across anything that described what the problem actually is.

Well, Terry and I swapped cars for a day, he has my N14 and I have his JB+ style tuned N18. I realize the stock N18 has a tiny bump in power over the N14, but this tune really has made a difference.

It definitely should have come like this from factory. So much nicer getting around town when I'm at a stock and I want to switch to another lane that's open...GET UP AND GO! Feels really nice. Makes me wish I still had my tune on my N14 because just this bump in power has been an improvement on the every day livability of the MINI. I think most of you N18 guys will enjoy this added bit of power. Install is ridiculously easy. You can probably do it with your eyes closed (but make sure if you did, your car isn't hot, lol)!

Bravo to Terry for stepping in and helping the N18 community, you guys are in good hands...

Auto transmission supposedly can't handle the power stated by NM and another company. So some people are getting surging with the tune.

I don't know exactly but I'd have to say no most likely. If it had the DSG transmission then possibly. Is the 350hp what you are aiming for?

not in the least. I'm aiming for some good reasonable fun. the jb, if it doesn't cause any issues with the a/t, would be just the ticket. and I'd progress up to stage 1 and 2 when I get bored.
I'll be taking delivery of a Q5 in 2 wks. in due time, that car might see 350-375hp. guys on Audi forums have been running sub 13s in flordia heat/humidity with just a pulley and a tune...ridiculous for a 4000+lb machine.

I saw some video -- appears to me to be the transmission torque limiter and DME torque limiter at not in agreement.

Gotta say, something about other MINIs' clutches and mine. Everyone else's clutch seems so mushy and soft. The other day when I drove Terry's MINI, I stalled. Embarrassing since that's the first time I've stalled in years! It was a combination of the clutch stop installed and mushy clutch. I got the catch point but nonetheless, embarrassing. Then today when I went to pick up my MINI, I pushed my clutch in and it felt like it was heavy as hell! Leaving Terry's I think I rev'd the **** outta it before I found the catch point. Took a bit of a drive to find my catch points again. Embarrassing again!

Anyways, driving home felt rather bland, 80 feels like the MINI has to work hard to maintain while the tune makes 80 feel like a walk in the park.

I noticed how hard your clutch was also. I assumed it was an aftermarket, lol.

Sure. I doubt that issue would damage the tranny. They just don't have the right table yet in the flash file mapping to do what they are trying to do.

It's stock! That's for sure. Maybe it's becaus I have a factory LSD? Every other MINI I've driven has the exact same clutch feel as yours that I've driven with no LSD. I could be completely wrong.
