DUDE! I've never seen anything like it. What is it? Wait were is it?

Just teasing, trying posting the pics again. They don't come up.

Thanks,

Super_MINI; I couldn't agree more! H-Sport springs, competition bars, and a set of sticky tires and light wheels, and the MINI is transformed! Motor-On!

Cheers,

Super_MINI,

Beautiful!!!!

(The images come up fine for me)

Antranik Feb 20, 2004 09:19 AM

That is an absolutely beautiful setup! Congrat's!

Redline0026 Feb 20, 2004 09:29 AM

Now I can see the pics. That is great, I would have really like to see maybe a little bit bigger wheel(what the hell do I know, I have 18x7.5 wheels), but they are GREAT! I think you have a great set up for some nice twisties. What are your next plans for your growing monster.

Just got back from a "Spirited" drive with my new setup... Oh, man this is fun. A few observations.

My "Yo-Yo is completely gone. No lie, I tried everything I could to get it to happen during medium to hard acceleration, it's nowhere to be found. Acceleration is noticeably quicker. Of all the mods I've done this has given me the most improvement in acceleration next to the pulley. The reduction in weight (13lbs) per corner and the smaller diameter (1.2") of the tires made a big difference, it's like I added another 10% pulley. Wow. I also can't get my DSC to engage. Guess I'll have to work upto it.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, I can't get in or out of the local McDonald's parking lot without bottoming out the front spoiler lip. Guess I'll have to park on the street, But then I can get an extra patty (double QPC) instead of a single since I'll be getting more exercise.....right?

AAAAAh yes, the perks of being a mini owner have struck. I wonder how many other cars make so many people happy...wait, did I just say people. Who cares they can't possibly have as much fun as us.

I'm very happy to here that your money was well spent.

Nice ride you got there!

Super_MINI Feb 20, 2004 12:52 PM

>>Nice ride you got there!

According to the Yo-Yo post, it's an occilation of the outflow valve spring on the Supercharger. It's kinda like an imbalance between the SC boost and engine torque. When your accelerating it's like the car is saying: (Say it with your Yo-Yo voice) I, don't, have, enough, power, to , turn , these, big, heavy, wheels. Anyway, I think lighening the load with smaller tires and lighter wheels may be resolving the occilation of the outflow valve because of the reduced engine load. Don't know, just works.

Sweeet!

So what made you decide to stick to 16's rather than going for a lower profile 17" wheel? just curious cause I have 16's now and I'm unsure what i'll do when the time comes for new wheels/rubber.

jazmini Feb 20, 2004 02:59 PM

super_MINI,

Really awesome looking! But the best part is the handling improvement.

KeyMini Feb 20, 2004 04:45 PM

Super_MINI, where did you get it from? I want to order my H-Sport springs and swaybars tonight. Got a quote of 495. Let me know. Thanks.javascript:%20x()

Actually these are 15's! I went with the smaller size partly because I like the small wheel look on the MINI. Just makes it more Mini like. The biggest reason was price/performance. I wanted the best streetable tire I could get for my MINI that would also be great for Autox/track day's. That led me to the Falken Azenis tires and the only two sizes that will fit are the 205/50 15 and the 215/45 16. The 16's are probably the ideal setup but the tires cost $35 more each. Also 15" wheels are around $100 and 16's get up to around $160. I also like the idea of a smaller diameter tire combination that will give better acceleration. The 15" P1's are also a 7" wide wheel instead of a 6.5" so I could potentially upgrade the tires to say a 225/45 15 R compound for racing only. End result was the 15's were the best bang for the buck. At $62 a tire I can afford to burn them up!

Um, $495? That's a really good deal. Is it for the H-Sport Springs and the Competition bar set that includes the front and rear? I got mine from Helix because the had the best price on the springs but I didn't save anything on the Bars. I still don't understand the pricing on the bars, the rear bar alone is $240 and the set is $340. Go figure, look at my photo above, both are tubular and the front bar is way bigger and has more bends, why's it only $100 more? Weird.

Super!

KeyMini Feb 20, 2004 07:02 PM

Super_MINI
I saw this item on ebay and after I didn't hit the reserve twice I sent them an email offering to buy the springs and swaybars. I was only interested in the rear, but for a $100 more I get the set. They quoted me $495 for everything.

BTW your car looks awesome! Can't wait.

fishey72 Feb 20, 2004 07:39 PM

I gotta stop reading these damned threads....was just going to do the rear sway bar, but welll now that I read it is $340 for both....I really want springs but I do not think the car will surive going any lower on our Northern Michigan roads. I hate this site

Just added my ALTA intake and now the Yo-Yo is almost unoticeable, but still there....
