Need some help with air intake...
Looking at the stock air filter in my 2005 mini s... Noticed that that thing is DIRTY! Anyway, told myself that I would put performance parts on this thing as I replaced things... So, with that being said... I want a nice intake. Something that is gonna sound good and add some power without spending too much... Any ideas on some good ones?

I installed the JCW CAI with Hi-Flow Filter from MINI-Madness. It wasn't cheap. The JCW Intake was $340 from Classic MINI and the filter was $99 from MINI-Madness.
Waymotorworks has the JCW Intake and also some others here. I like the JCW intake because it looks stock. However others with other intakes like DDM, Alta, M7, and so one will be able to give you their take. Edit: When I replaced my stock intake with the JCW intake 3 or 4 weeks ago, the stock unit was disgusting. I don't think the filter had ever been changed. |
The aFe intake has been reccomended to me, I'm going to check it out.

Alta was one of the first, and as far as I am concerned, still the best. Sounds pretty good if you cut out the opening to the cowl area.

I just ordered myself a DDM intake in back. I was originally going to purchase an M7 but outmotoring.com did not carry them and I wanted to take advantage of the free shipping and their cheaper tensioner tool which I needed this week as well. They're pretty much the same intake based on what I read and I like the enclosure they come with. I don't think you can go wrong with Alta, DDM, or M7.

DDM
Always fits without any modifications and most people will say it sounds the best |
AS fas as panel air filters there is the K&N filter and the AFE Pro 5R.
For CAI DDM/M7 and Alta, if you wanna spend more money there's the JCW and Dinan. You can add another $100 for a aftermarket cone filter. |
