I'll be tuning a R53 tomorrow and I will print out the JCW and post it.... I have been very busy with the AP and getting some new products ready for market.

I'd be interested in a swap also. Although I already have the AP, it would be easier selling the AP instead of the Dimsport.

I contacted Jan over a month ago and was told I would get an updated tune soon.

A month later and well, guess nothings changed... same old, same old...

However, I haven't messed with the AP tune since I wrecked my car over a month ago.

Since I got the car running only a few days ago, I sent an email to Jeff about 10pm last night requesting some changes and had a new updated map by noon today.

And ya wonder why I want to get rid of the dimsport.

Seems to me that would have left you an entire month at your disposal to get it done.

Perhaps I'm mistaken, are you done waiting on me?

If so, my apologies.

If not,

All I wanted was an updated tune so I could do a comparison... surely a month was ample time.

Let me know.

Not trying to get in the middle of your war but...

Can't we all just get along???

Jan has been super responsive with me lately. It must be my laid back New York attitude that he appreciates unlike you hostile southerners .

Let's make up with some sweet tea .

There was talk/posts 2 months ago about an updated version of the original RMW tune that was supposed to be out 3 weeks ago. Not sure what happened to that or the pop and burble, except that the AP came out...

It's got nothing to do with getting along.

Everyone knows I have been a loyal supporter of Jan and his work. I don't feel I should get any special treatment or anything more than anyone else but you, me and Jan have to agree on one thing.

We've all been waiting too long for updates. I completely understand Jan is super busy but if that is the case, it's simple, just tell me you don't have time or don't want to do the work and I'll move on.

The one thing I hate is people that string me along, intentionally or not. This isn't anything personal about Jan, I'm still a consumer that paid for a product that isn't complete.

Like I said, nothing personal, I'd tell you the same thing if it was my mother.

Very well put and quite frankly I don't see how people cannot see this. I think that you have been nothing but a diplomat. Since I purchased the car I have been researching the RMW tune. It has been noticed that Jan is less than responsive at times. Where I sort of take the other fork in the road is where, if you are too busy to support your product....don't sell it. Before people jump on me here...I am not speaking about Jan directly but speaking "in general."

I understand people get busy as do I but there is no excuse when you sell and support a product. If one cannot dedicate time/resources to supporting a customer base then they should not be in business for that. If another product is one's bread and butter...stick to that. Once you spread yourself thin is when you get in trouble with customer satisfaction. It makes people feel that...OK, they have my money already so where is the incentive to support me and the issues that we not explained to me prior to purchasing?

I am not here to give a lecture on business practice but the determining factor regarding where I buy my tune will largely be determined on who will pick up the phone and be responsive when I have a concern. I think that a large portion of the population is this way. Competition can only make things better on multiple fronts so it's good to now have an option.

sending updates without the fix is like sending out downpipes without a fix for the P0420 codes, it's really pointless and wasting more time which puts me even farther behind. There are few people that really know what I am doing everyday. I just went through the bulk of the racing season. In that time we won and podiumed in professional racing, and 3 ,more podiums again at NASA. We have worked on 2 other full complete supercharger replacement systems for the R53 and helped with a big turbo kit from another shop for the R56. Before the AP came out there was nothing out there better than the dimsport tool. It was what it was. NOW...........we have something much easier and far better to tune with. Guess what........technology is great!!!! Cobb had a full time engineer decoding this ecu for the Mini community. Ask Jeff how long it took for 1 full time engineer to decode the ecu? Now ask that same engineer to do what I did while designing 2 s/c kits, helping 4 race teams , testing new parts and still podiuming........ I think you get the point. Anyone that knows me knows I care about people and will always do my best to help them. I can't stop helping everyone because of a couple unhappy people. I do my best to answer phone calls when they come in, emails during the race season were MUCH SLOWER, especially when they were about the same thing of "when is the fix coming" . I am typically up at 5am or earlier every day and sometimes don't get to bed til after midnight. As I have said over and over I am working on it, it's a fact. The differences are we have custom tuning and not just canned tunes for sale. We also travel around the country where you can get that custom tuning. Now that we have the AP it will be easy to tune the car to its optimum the first time. Contrary to what some think here, I am still human
just my .02

Jan got to me the first night i purchased my Dimsport, the wait for the update is like he put it. As long as he doesn't forget us Dimsporters, only good can come from the R&D.

Like he said better to wait for 1 good one than get 5 bad ones. The first tune i received was great the ones after that not so great so i will sit on the 1st one until a new solution is developed. No biggy, car runs great except for the hiccup under partial throttle. Just wait it out, i was concerned at first because i never got a reply back but then i did. In I.T.(my field) Projected project completion dates almost never work out, unfortunately delays happen.

I have always gotten a responce from Jan when I email him directly. Like he said, there is no point sending a new file if the issues have not been fixed yet. Also you can not expect him to be reading every post on here, sure I have posted and not gotten an answer, however every email I send I get one the same day.

Jan - I think everyone would appreciate (and get off your back) if you gave a update as what projects you are working on for the Dimsport and AP. I have no idea of what's in store for my Dimsport. I receieved a private message, that I think went out to everyone who bought the original dimsport tune, that we all should be recieving the updated version almost a month ago. I'm sure everyone would be fine if you're still working out the kinks on it, however, with no update on the status, many start to think they are forgotten about, especially with the AP now at your shop. Thanks

I fully understand. I'm working on the Dimsport now.... as in right now
I am further along with the Dimsport than any other tuner. Like I said if it was that easy to find the last few bugs everyone would have had it done. There are features in the tune that even the AP doesn't have.........yet I'll be working with Alta to implement them.

Some helpful things for anyone in this type of service oriented business would be to better utilize their website, http://www.revolutionmini.com/ does not do much more than act as a shopping cart for a few things.

-Try adding a FAQ section. There is a ton of questions here. Add some questions and answers to your website.
-Start posting to a blog
-Use twitter. Twitter is a great way to get short and sweet info to your followers... us

Perhaps an Internet savvy assistant would be a good hire for your staff.

And from the NAM forum member perspective, sometimes you have to pick up the phone or send an email. Asking questions on this forum or via PM are not the best way to communicate with some one especially if you need an answer quickly.
