Drivetrain If you guys want Magnaflow exhausts...
Immediately upon takeoff and anytime you hit the throttle hard.
Since the engine is transverse mounted it wants to rotate backwards. The R56 is powerful so when it does rotate back it delays throttle response and power transfer to the wheels. The bushings reduce that engine rotation so that you get quicker throttle response and less torque steer and more immediate power transfer to the wheels.
Definitely a good thing!

Anyone know if 14816 (muffler with tips - see Automan's setup) will install okay on a 2011 MCS? Been wondering how big of a difference in terms of gains if any 14816 would be versus just the muffler with tips. Also is there a noticeable weight difference after installing any of the Magnaflow mufflers versus the OEM weight?

Just wondering if anyone has done any dynos to see how much gain they got before and after the install? I'm mainly doing this for some possible weight reduction and the sound, but some performance gains would be sweet as well . =)
After reading all this I'm amped to get the Magnaflow rollin'. I'll prolly be ordering the 14816 early next week; deciding whether to go with a Mag res or res delete (prolly the delete). I'll post some clips once I get around to the install hopefully in the next 2 weeks. Thanks to all of you for the in-depth info!
I went res delete. No regrets so far. You can easily add a resonator later if you change your mind.
Mine is not close to being too loud (not for me anyway), I'd only add the resonator if I start to get a lot of drone. So far none.

Great deal on the muffler from www.PerformancePeddler.com
Thanks folks!
Resonator won't make a difference, if its a magnaflow one. They are so straight through its basically like having a straight pipe, it'll still drone just as much. If you guys are only replacing the rear muffler and leaving stock piping, then definitely remove the resonator, as the oem resonator is restrictive.
Before/After Dyno, you'll see maybe 1-2 wheel ft-lb in torque. I pulled the same numbers as a stock S essentially, with 1-2 more hp/tq.
However, once I got tuned, compared to other tuned minis on the same dyno with oem/jcw exhausts, it pulled an additional 8 wheel torque (ft-lbs), which is pretty significant. Yes each mini varies, but before tune numbers, the oem/jcw exhaust actually had slightly higher numbers, so the tune really amplifies flow/dynamics. good luck.

SooperCuperErik, just curious, who performed your tune? Do you have someone in your area that does it or did you have Jan from RMW pass through your neck of the woods?
I have the Alta AP and my plan is to get a custom tune to get the most power I can with the specific mods on my car, but finding someone who can tune seems to be easier said than done.
