The two primary types I know of are:
1. The JCW challenge with the hard duct roughly pointing toward the caliper.
2. The other kind feeds in from the fog light as does the JCW challenge, but instead uses a flexible hose duct and shoots the air directly onto the rotor on the opposite side of the hub from the caliper.
3. Or maybe you have something completely different?
I use #2 however we had a #1 in the shop the other day and it was pretty sweet. Wish I could afford that setup.
The Big Brake kits add rotating mass (slows ya down) , costs me 2 points I would rather use elsewhere, and takes a knife and slits a hole in the bottom of my wallet. Right now I can eat up rotors like they are butter and who cares. they are $40 ea from tirerack. Put big brakes on and chew up your rotors with aggressive pads and it costs you a fortune to replace em.

Another disadvantage of big brakes is you loose the ability to run the uber wide 15's and the eventual 275/35 15 hoosier.

From what I understand the #2 style, (aka Sneed's Speed Shop style), is more effective than #1. However, I do not have data to back that up, it does make sense though. I am sure you do have to periodically replace the hose though.

Do JCW parts eat points? Since they are OEM, maybe they don't?

Holy crap, it this the rubber you run?

There is no way I can even get close to that on the back of my R53. I would have to have a long session with the Sawsall before I could even get close to that meat fitting.

If you find a way to shave points elsewhere and spend 'em on that size tire, you almost don't need any damn brakes.

Most 15s will clear R56S brakes, which BTW is the same as R53 JCW brakes, except for the pretty paint. R56 JCW brakes though, are way too large for most, maybe all 15" wheels.

but A 911 has better components and more power... given equal drivers, the stock 911 will prevail...

Ahhhhh, but anyone with a big check book can buy a Porsche and go quick if they can drive, but to do it with a Mini is what makes what Ian and Jan are doing so special!

the geometry of the mini is what makes it handle so well, that is why i bought one because that made FWD not an issue for me (I used to say only rwd cars is what ill buy)... given equal components, it is hard to beat a mini
