best exhaust for the r56 (nm's?)

hey guys, right now i have an alta catback exhaust, i like it but i think the piping is just to large a diameter for the car, so im looking for something else. what is a good exhaust for the best buck? i have been looking at nm engineerings for awhile now but the price is killing me on everything. i know nm makes great quality products and 60mm piping seems to be a perfect size. i am also not looking to remove the second ca, my car will stay as legal as possible since i live in nj. i have been thinking of doing a custom dual exhaust but still a little hesitant on it all. would delete the resonator with str8t pipe to a magnaflow 4" round muffler then split with a y pipe and come out the rearto seperate the tips and be further apart, any feedback would be great!

Well exhausts are all subjective. Its what you want. If you want the NM get the NM. They really are for cosmetic looks and some power gain. When you starting getting into higher power ranges then an exhaust will be more of a power adder. I just think you should do what makes you happy and if its the NM get it.

well i like the nm but but i do not like the crimped edges as they can be prone to leak easier over time. and from a lot of what i have read is that for our cars a no more than 2.5" diameter pipe is more than enough to handle the power across the board and that 3" is over kill not giving enough back pressure for our cars, i might just go custom and be the only r56 with a dual exhaust since i like to be different, just a matter of doing it and getting all the parts and such

Ya 2.5 to 2.75 is what I would lean around. 3 is not need unless you are running higher hp. Custom is always an option can be could can be bad. You can have it designed how you want it but run the chances of reliabilty fading quicker then a manufactured one. I see you changed your sig pic with the new wheels.

yea finally got around to taking pics of it with them, actually been working on a gauge pillar now, the mold is almost complete! my first one was just an add on piece to be molded but now im making a full cover. as for the exhaust it would be just like the stratmosphere but 2.5" pipe and would be split after the muffler, it would also be str8t tubing no bends in it. would also be using stainless tubing i dont do aluminized steel lol

why don't you take MINI Challenge exhaust into consideration?

I like that!! What is the price on it?

Ramezess May 28, 2010 04:16 AM

Less than 1'000 Euros in Russia with customs and shipping.

Sounds fantastic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P16IotV2yEY

that exhaust replaces the second cat and here in nj do not wanna do that. plus i dont feel like spending another arm and a leg for an exhaust so i will prob just go custom with the dual exhaust, have already priced out all the pieces i need
