Day at the Dyno:
baseline today: 184 tq, 230 hp. after 197 tq, 245 hp (about 80deg. F.)
(11/07 was 189 tq, 239 hp after tune, about 70 deg. F.)
The change '07 to '10 was RMW street cam)
Today car had fueling issues - low fuel pressure and lazy O2 sensor readings - needs some work.
2003 with 74,000 mi.
Webb 15% pulley
RMW head, street cam
440's
OBX header with stock cat
RSpeed type 2 (Cheap Ebay) aftermarket cat-back
Alta intake, stock intercooler
and most importantly, Jan-Tune.
Current concern - Aside from fueling issues, Jan said he could smell my clutch. It's stock with 44,000 miles on it. Jan did a great job. Car would have more but he had to add too much fuel down low to keep it in safe range. The cam really works well and performed just like Jan said it would.

Cam
380 Injectors

I pulled 193.5 & 173.7 base line at 84 degress at 6,600 ft elevation.

after the tune I pulled 204.9 and 177.83 - lovin it

Redline was bumped to 7300 and humidity at the time of both runs was around 30% I think which is normal for Colorado at that time of year

here is the dyno chart

After seeing alot of dyno' s it makes me realize I was lucky when I picked up our girl as she had been tuned - then I added some toys and had her tuned again. The girl still rocks  . Now I am thinking about going to the next level with her  .

thanks Jan, got much better AFR, and apparently a lot more power.

I have a 17%pulley(wmw), DDM intake, NGK iridium plugs(7 temp), stock injectors (330cc).

it was about 76degrees, low humidity.

also a note for CA drivers, shell fuel sucks.

This is follow on to post 11 above. Since the test, have replaced fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, fuel filter and pre-cat oxygen sensor.

Only mod between 6/24/10 dyno in post 11 above and this one is the RMW street cam. Got a deal on it used, otherwise, I'm convinced the track cam would have been the right pick.

Jan re-tuned it today, got the a/f ratios correct and still suspects it has a small vacuum leak from how it was running.

Outcome, 201 ft-lb tq and 255 hp.

temp. on car thermometer was 68.

I got my only code after putting in Shell gas. Now I just run Chevron, no problems since.

Dyno Dynamics Results
----------------------
Peak HP: 178.5 @ 6500 RPM (202.8 incl. ~12% parasitic loss)
Peak TQ: 164.7 @ 4200 RPM (187.2 incl. ~12% parasitic loss)
Peak A/F: ~11.3 (not on chart but requested after runs)

Engine Mods
-----------
- 15% pulley
- DDMWorks CAI
- Invidia catback exhaust
- Brisk DOR 14 LGS plugs
- RMW Tune

General Notes
-------------
- I did not stop at a BP for a good premium fuel fillup on the way because I thought there would have been a long line at the dyno. There were only four cars ahead of me when I arrived.
- I had no base dyno run prior to my MINI mods. I wish I had.
- Different dynos can vary in their readings. Read more below on my findings of dyno variations.

Performance-Specific Notes
--------------------------
- The lowest peak value was a 3rd-gear pull. The two higher values are 4th-gear pulls. Even though 6th gear is the closest to a 1:1 ratio, a pull using it would be nearly impossible because of the speeds needed to achieve 7000 RPM.
- From all the threads and pages I have read, the estimated drivetrain loss in a six-speed manual MCS is around 12% (and this is a rough estimate in itself because the loss can vary at a given RPM). Considering a stock 2006 MCS has 168HP @ 6000 RPM and 162 lb/TQ @ 4000 RPM at the crank, that's roughly a gain of 31.9HP and 22.5lb/TQ. Peak TQ increased in range by 200 RPM. Peak HP increased in range by 500 RPM, but the curve still remains fairly flat out to 6750 RPM. That's a 750 RPM range increase.

Dyno-Specific Notes
-------------------
- This MINI owner's dyno chart offers a similar comparison to mine: http://www.ross-tech.net/andy/mini/mymini.html.
- Some info on the Dyno Dynamics setup: http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/engine...-question.html.
- From what I have read, DynoJet readings can be 12% higher vs. Dyno Dynamics.
- DynoJet vs. Dyno Dynamics: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286440, http://www.mbworld.org/forums/w211-a...what-loss.html.
- Dynapack info: http://www.dynapack.com/.
- Dynapack vs. Dyno Dynamics: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/drivetrain-cooper-s/166641-dynapack-vs-mustang-dyno.html.

Converted Figures for a DynoJet
-------------------------------
Peak HP: ~199.9 @ 6500 RPM (230.5 incl. ~12% parasitic loss)
Peak TQ: ~184.5 @ 4200 RPM (212.7 incl. ~12% parasitic loss)

The Bottom Line
---------------
- I'd like to go back and do another dyno session with a couple of my club members to see what they get.
- I would like to get the opportunity to test my MINI on other dyno types to make a comparison to some of the other results posted here, especially the DynaPack.

Got 450cc injectors, really helped with pinging (helped as in gone)
lots more usable torque, especially down low. I had no idea how bad it was to run the stock 340s with a 17% pulley until this tune. you can see the stock(untuned) af-r in the dotted green; and the new ones with 450s much richer with better control through the midrange and especially better to 7k.
214 whp |199 wtq
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5210/...24eb83c4_z.jpg
changed a bit in the final tune, smoothed out the midrange afr, feels fantastic.
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5250/...1d97b16b_z.jpg
got an overboost code after 6750rpm on the green line as you can see...

First run on new RMW rebuilt 1.6.

Rebuild necessitated by low compression (150, 100, 100, 100). Rings/cylinders worn out. Seems a lot stronger than Dyno shows. CP pistons, RMW track cam, RMW head and crank damper, CompClutch Stg. 4, Torsen (Ford Focus SVT) OBX header, cheap ebay exhaust. Stock intercooler, ignition, cat. ECU keeps changing settings after being flashed so we think there is a problem with it. It runs very smooth and light flywheel allows it to rev very fast. I'm very pleased with it. It seems to be traction limited, however, with the 215-45x16 Falken Azenis on SSR Comp 16x8 wheels

butt-dyno feels much more than the graph would indicate (torque doesn't seem to have changed much). I'll post thoughts in a separate thread on my car. Plan is for a custom tune at some point in the near future.
