I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree

Some of the mods that I can think of that are illegal is using pvc as intake tubing, welding a coffe can on your exhaust, and going as as to remove the exhaust. I have more respect for someone who makes an educated descion and purchase a product with some kind of R&D or have the technical know how to be able to build their own parts. But good thing we have this forum so that we can share our points of view.
I would venture that many of your mods you mentioned in your sig would not be CARB approved and would be in the strictest sense illegal as well. Most vendors of Mini aftermarket parts do not get CARB approval.

I think ......... that someone should drill a hole up through their bonnet, mount a SS stack and attach cone filter right in the DLOS and get the ultimate in cold air intake-abilities. Then we'd never have to talk about the CAI stuff again................. SO............. who wants to have the first go on their brand new R56!??!?!?

Anyway, modding is about trying things and finding out what works. I'm a big fan of low cost experimentation. Don't let the nay sayers get you

i'm eventually going to get around to a cai (k&n typhoon i think) but this just got me thinking/wondering what i'd get on a thread if i asked that
What was the outcome of drilling holes I have my box apart right now and going to give it a shot. Have an extra if it doesn't work.

I never ended up doing it. I don't know that he had any gain either. I'm skeptical about intakes at this point.

well I did it after reading other threads. I gained about 5hp according to my Dashcommand and my exhaust sounds wicked. I just drilled into the opposite side that the other little hole was and made that hole an inch.

Do you have photos of the holes that you could post. Different sound?
