The Detroit Tuned one is a slightly modified new OEM unit....hence the low price, and easy install. That also makes it plug and play.....the HKS unit is totally aftermarket...non oem...they don't even list a MINI part on the website from what I see......so it might be untested in the MINI....and you might have to do some fab work, or maybe be a "tester" for a newly developed unit.... Frankly I'm not sure it would be worth much effort when something like a BPV simply works....or it does not...except for a minor change or two to optimize it.

It feels like my compression drops(obviously not boosting) around 2000 RPM when i engine brake (let the revs slow me down rather than braking)... is this normal? I have an 04 with an oem bpv... Has it failed or is it sticking?

This is actually the ecu turning the gas back on. If you release the throttle and coast in gear above about 1900 rpm's the ecu actually shut's off the gas until you get down to the 1900 rpm's.

Thanks for the info! it feels like my boost is also inconsistant as sometimes i break the tires loose really early in the rpms and other times it doesnt until high rpms... IN THE SAME DAY AND TIME AREA! Is it sticking?

That's too bad since I have a SC. Are there other BPV's out there worth noting or is the DTBPV the one to go with?

Some folks don't like the DT one...it CAN make the car a bit jerky....but if you normally drive aggressively, you will not notice. You may also loose a bit of MPG since you are making boost sooner....The DT one is specifically made for pre 04 cars(will work on all SC MINI's though)...the 05+ were slightly different from what I understand....but the replacement OEM part is the same.....for all.
I think the OEM, and the DTBPV are your choices.
