Alta's Turbo Inlet Hard Pipe Fitting issue

A friend and myself tried to install the Pipe earlier today but couldn't seem to get it to fit on the turbo inlet. It was warm when we first tried to install it, so we let it cool for about 2 hours.

Anyone have issues with fitting it as well? Has anyone figured a solution?

Have you tried calling alta?

are the setscrews too far in ?

joshK Jan 23, 2010 05:24 PM

make sure you back out the set screws and move the coolant reservoir out of the way

Set screws weren't the issue. We also had to move the reservoir out of the way as well too tight of a fit. After that we just couldn't seem to fit the Pipe over the inlet.

@skippydog I wanted to see if anyone else had the issue before hand. I'll give it another go tomorrow morning

After you have the reservoir out of the way, try fitting it over the turbo inlet with the pipe in a vertical position and then clock it down once it's on. It takes a little wiggling. You'll get it in the morning. :)

watching this thread as I was thinking about this purchase. Anyone with pics after the install?

I did install the hard pipe I used some lubricant to make it easier.

I will post a pic soon.

Any comments on performance from those who have fitted it?

I am curious as well. I currently have the older Alta inlet pipe and was looking to purchase the hard one down the road. I want to see pics as well. My current one likes to rub on the reservoir  Hopefully fitment is much better.

Pretty simple. You call Alta and tell them to help you. Since this is a new hot product they probably don't want any bad press!

Since they do have two models one for the S and one for the JCW it is always possible you have the wrong one??

That is what I was going to say. I see you have an 09 JCW. I am guessing you got the one or the regular S as it uses a smaller inlet and will not fit a JCW. PM me your contact name/number/invoice number and I will take a look!

^ I've tried that for a part before and never got any responses.

To the OP, good luck!

If your turbo inlet is touching the coolant reservoir you could do a slight trim on the turbo side to get the inlet away from there.

Not a good mod fitment wise if you have DOS CAI,looks like the hardtube will work well with HAI type systems.

I don't agree with that statement. We designed the system to bolt up to the stock intake....so any intake that uses the stock inlet tube will work!

The alta hard intake is not flexable like a oem jcw intaketube so the hardtube puts the dos at a odd angle. a little trim on the hardpipe and on the bulkhead and everything should be good to go.

No probs for me but the cold side is a PITA

This thread topic is about alta's new aluminum intake pipe that attaches to the turbo intake not about alta boost tubes.

Yes, and it looks like a nice peace of kit :)

Is ok but transfers heat to the intake charge quicker than oem.
