Alta V2 Intake and Water Question

Hey everyone,

I installed an Alta v2 intake system not too long ago and I was wondering if removing that plastic shield that separates the intake from the firewall makes the intake more prone to sucking in water in rain storms. It seems like that plastic shield helps block any water that might come up from the bottom of the engine bay and block water from getting on the filter from the cowl at the top.

Should I really be worried for driving around a lot if it's pouring out? I don't want to hydrolock the motor! Will driving through small puddles be super dangerous since I installed the intake?

Thanks!

Don't worry about it, we've been installing intakes and taking the plastic panels out for years without any problems.

Yup even here in rainy Oregon we've never seen a problem!

if any water does get in, see it as a redneck water injection system lol, jk. ive had the alta v2 intake for ~1.5 years now. No problems so far.

I thought of this the day after I installed mine.......in an auto car wash....as the water dumped in the cowl, haha.

The only time it would suck water in is if your car was completely submerged, and at that point, well, hydrolocking would be the least of your worries!

haha, i was a bit scared when i drove through a car wash that does the undercarriage cleaning. but everything's fine. maybe this wasn't the smartest of ideas, but i ended up feeling like the intake was a little too loud and ended up putting the plastic piece back in. now the volume of the intake is about halfway in between how it was stock and how it is without the plastic piece. i removed the alta hose because it fit like crap, shaved part of it down, and it still fit like crap. so that was a waste. so now i'm rocking a stock hose and the rest of the alta intake. aye aye aye
