Anybody know which one is louder?

Does anybody have some good pics that they can send me of either system?

Cheers....

I have the Borla Race but I haven't heard the Magnaflow in person. From what I've read in other posts from people who have heard both, the Magnaflow is louder. My Borla isn't too loud at all. Sounds perfect! I was orignally going to buy the Magnaflow because it was cheaper at the time. I was able to find the Borla for the same price in a Group Buy ($575) and I like the tips better on the Borla so I purchased it instead.

No, sorry I don't, but check out these movies... They are what sold me on the Borla Race!

please, please.. go find someone who has the magnaflow and listen to its "Siren Song." It's simply the sweetest... IMHO.

My Magnaflow has a wonderful throaty growl under acceleration. There's a definite drone at highway cruising speeds, though, which bothers some people. I've become immune to it. It's a trade-off in exchange for the extra H.P. the magnaflow delivers.

You might ask RandyBMC but I think the Borla Race/Sport is tad louder. Like a V8 they say. Magnaflow is loud but also a bit mellow.

Sound is a personal matter and that i can understand. I prefer the Borla sound to the Magnaflow but again that is my opinion . What should be obvious to all is the diferance in design, fit and finish of the two. The Borla far outshines the Magnaflow in tha area on all counts. As for the HP claims of Magnaflow lets jsut say they aren't the first ones with a " magic " dyno.

maxmini, its no magic dyno, RandyBMC dynoed it and proved that it is the best system for power so far.

From all the sound clips I have heard I prefer the sound of the borla race to that of the magnaflow. It also seems from the clips that the magnaflow is the louder of the two. But, considering the magnaflow is about $150 less from what I've seen I think I will go with the magnaflow (if/when I do get an exhaust). It has the power and I still think it sounds the best (other than the borla race) and it looks good. The borla race has better sound but it costs more, if it was under $700 I'd give it a go but it's not, too bad, oh well.

That is why I was originally going to buy the Magnaflow because it was at the time alot cheaper than the Borla. Magnaflow prices have risen and the Borla prices have come down from 6 months ago. If you shop for them now they are comparably priced.

Also, I don't think Randy ever Dyno'd the Borla Race along with the other exhausts he tested. He did test the Borla Street Exhaust which he sells and I'm sure the Borla Race produces more power than the street version. He lists 7hp for Borla Street and 10hp for Magnaflow - depending on Modifications, so I would take that to mean that you would see a 10hp increase max with a modded out car with the Magnaflow and that the 7hp for the Borla was probably tested without other mods because he didn't indicate so. Assuming that the Borla Race makes more HP than the Borla Street and if you tested the two on the same car, I would think they would be close to the same in HP gains.

This was debated awhile back and a few other companies indicated that they were seeing larger HP improvements from the Borla Race than the Magnaflow on a highly modified car. Mini-Madness used it on their Supertuner Challenge car because that's what they found. Again I think they are probably really close in HP with the Magnaflow being stronger on a Stock MCS because of the larger diameter tubing and intersecting pipes creating more backpreasure and more torque and the Borla Race providing more HP on a highly modified car because of it's smoother flow and higer velocity flow from smaller diameter tubing.

Performance-wise, the UUC is by far the most powerful in my opinion. 2 lbs more torque than the magnaflow - this according to Randy so I trust it. I have the intake and pulley - my MINI is perfect at high RPMs - 5k to redline. This is the way the stock S should have came out of the box. But I'd like more power down lower - starting at 3k or 4k. The UUC providing more torque than the magnaflow yet several HP less tells us that the UUC provides much more oomph at lower engine speeds. Now price, that's a whole different ballgame.

And from what I've heard, the GIAC chip will give a heck of a torque increase starting at around 2200RPMs. Those are my next (and last) two mods.

My bad greatgro, basically the mag is the most powerful so far, but I too would rather have the tourqe.

I don't believe I have ever seen any dyno numbers on the Borla "sport" only the Borla which is 5-7 HP.

I agee with the poster above that the sport should be more then the regular Borla.

I just looked at flow fast and it didnt say race, are you sure. The pic looks like the race system, but it doesnt say race.

Yes, I crossreferenced the part number and it is correct for the Borla Race. 140035

I just talked to Eric at Helix about the two systems. He said that the Borla (non race) makes one horsepower less than the Magnaflow, and makes much less noise. The Magnaflows don't always fit perfectly, and tend to expand when they are hot ("the tips stick out kinda funny&quot. They are going to do dyno testing on the Borla race system soon, so no numbers on that system yet...

Finally...someone who agrees with me. I've been saying the same thing. It is NOT loud at all. in fact, it could be louder.

It's well known that the magnaflow drones on the highway - does the Borla Race have this problem?
