I got my DR12S from ALTA, I'm happy with the performance coming from stock plugs on a 15%.

There is an improvement in smoothness, engine idle, and startup. My stock plugs had less than 30k on them, although the change in performance could also be since I moved to colder plugs.

I installed my 14LGS plugs from Jan a week or so ago... my Bypass Valve is dying, so hard to tell what the plugs are doing... but I'm betting once the BPV is replaced, the car is gonna be screamin again.

I have a completely stocked 05 MCS. I'm looking to upgrade starting with the plugs...Should i use the DR-14s? While I'm at it what will be a good set of wires for that plug?

use the factory wires they are better than what's out there
No real need for colder plugs unless you go to a reduction pulley

Figured I would reply to this thread as well since I installed my first set of Brisk plugs late last week.

Plugs I took out were NGK's and had around 40k on them. I had developed a slight miss under load on occasions and our gas mileage was in decline. I figured it was time for a replacement.

Installed IE plug wires from AXC and it fixed the miss that was occurring. While I was installing the new plugs my coil pack had some corrosion on the prongs, so cleaned that as well and started shopping for a new one. Drove with the wires for a few days and the car was considerably smoother. Once my DR12S came in (they were backordered), I installed those as well as an MSD Coil Pack (I know the stock was fine, but got a good deal on it). With all three pieces on and installed the car starts easier, idles great, runs much smoother, and our gas mileage has taken a huge upward turn. I did have to gap the plugs, as most of you mentioned.

Yes .028 is the most common gap.

Honestly I'm surprised anyone running forced induction even bothers with the NGK Irridiums. I used them on my S70 at one point (T5 2.3l 5spd car, boost cranked to about 17lbs. Car created about 300ftlbs to the front tires. Much fun for a daily) and they started breaking up almost immediately. Checked the gap, went smaller thinking blowout, and still sucked. Wires, coil, rotor and cap were all new and such. Went back to the Bosch Coppers the cars come with, and it ran perfectly.

So yeah, Irridiums... they be junk.

NGK BKR7Es (copper) are very well known among the boosted car owners.. I dont know about iridiums, anyways,! back to the topic of BRISK plugs!

Any issues with brisk?

Since it's been awhile since you all put the brisk plugs in....has anyone had any issues with the plugs? Are they better/worse than the iridiums? Are there any negatives with the plugs? I'm hopefully going to be installing my helix 15% pulley, and ssk this weekend. So far i've got a cai, and exhaust, everything else is stock.

Thanks for the help...

PS: Jan, any chance of coming out to Hawaii soon? (offer applies to fellow namer's)

I have the DR12S right now and I installed these plugs with a .028 plug gap and now my idle its definaitly off, it feels like a i have a cam in the car now! I switched from my NGK Iridiums because up high in the RPMs the motor would miss quite a bit, now with the silver's it doesnt miss anymore but the idle is all whacked out... any ideas why?

Have to throw in my 2 cents here. Installed some DR12S on my 04 MCS with 15% pulley and CAI and the miss/hesitation I had at part throttle acceleration is totally gone. Gapped them at .030

"Hello Jan,

I'm in the market right now looking for some plugs. I have no mods as of now, but will soon have a Alta CAI, 17% Pulley with a new belt, and a one-ball exhaust to start with. After much research from reading your threads, I believe the plugs I should get are the BRSK-DR12S.

But then I hear something about a "14LGS"

Which one is more suited for my MINI?"

"the ones you want are the 14LGS for your mods
the DR12s are for cars with heads etc" - Jan

How often should a mini's spark plugs be changed?
If they are changed to the brisk plugs, does the mini need a tune after install?

no on the tune

as for changing them, the more modded the car the more often you will have to change them. I always change mine along with my oil way more often than necessary. Old habits die hard

Well sh$%... I just ordered the Brisk DR12 after sifting through these threads and on the recomendations on Alta's site (who I ordered from). Am I Making a mistake putting the DR12's in Jan? It sounds like there are a lot of happy people with them.

Yeah, I found a mixed amount of answers to which plugs I should use so I PM'ed Jan directly and found out which ones I need.
