Drivetrain Any NW Canadians up for an RMW tune? Victoria? Oregon? Idaho?!!
Clint, PM'd you. There is an informal list on PS Mini of people potentially interested in a tune depending on the date and location.
Seatosky, you posted on PS Mini, so I'd like to coordinate efforts in getting Jan here, anywhere, in the Pac. NW including Canada, and have one site where we can keep track of everyone's interest.
Please let me know, I'm very willing to help.
Cheers!

I spoke with Jan a little while ago ...... he says he's booked up for May and June, but he may have some time available in July. We should try to get some firm commitments, now that we have a potential window, to test the waters for actual demand for an RMW tune.
Clint, BoomerMCS and Seatosky: You seem to have the communication channels, so let's see if we can prove to Jan that a visit would be worth his while.

I have booked July 11-12th as the weekend that would work for me and the shop where it will be hosted. The dyno fees are $80 per car based on 10 cars per day (Flat rate 8 hour dyno day is $800). Can someone clarify on average, how many cars Jan can do in how many hours?
The problem is, there are probably quite a few people who do not want to commit until they know the date and price, so the sooner we can get Jan committed for that date, the better. I can push it back a week if need be but only if there's at least a month's notice.
So, long story short, until Jan confirms, I am sitting on a list of 8 people, which I am sure could balloon to 15 or even 20 if the word spreads quickly enough. Can someone confirm Jan's asking price? Is it the same for R53 and R56? What about Cooper models?

"Remote tuning works great" ........ maybe yes, maybe no. I'll bet the bugs are still being worked out. Say it does, what's the feedback loop? How do you know? Butt-dyno? Seems pretty subjective to me.
Clint: Please don't suck the energy out of this proposition. Let's get Jan up here and see what improvements can be realized on the dyno.

I'm only trying to help. Remote is not for everyone. Call Jan for details on that. There is more to tuning than ''butt dyno'' Its getting the right tune however you get it.

Craig,
Did you load the file I sent you for the remote tune?
Jan - need more info. Will be calling you tomorrow hopefully. Remote tune might go well as we have experienced tuners here at the shop who can facilitate the system in any way needed.
we don't have a remote tune YET for the R56 but we have someone working on it
I am also curious what an RMW tune from Jan would do for me? What is the summer looking like?
Also, what prevents the dealership from reflashing the ECU during service and then your out $800?

looks like July 24th-25th in Seattle
we will have a flash tool to be able to reflash the ecu soon that will hold maps etc
we also keep your file on hard drive so if it gets flashed over by the dealer you can get it reflashed

How would the reflash work and what would be the cost associated with that? I have a friend who has an '05 R53 and expresses the same concerns
.
