The Alta instructions say "Cap the grey line using the supplied vacuum cap."

 

i thought the gray line was the one thatcame off of the PCV valveas per the Alta instructions. It says to remove the gray line from the PCV and then use the supplied t union to hook the silicone line to it and then use other union to hook into valve cover vent on the driver side. I'm confused here too.

Bisch, thanks for your reply and confirmation. Still the question is why cap it off?
So I'm asking anyone that has had their valve cover off what's going on with that vent/drain that ALTA would want to block off going back to the crankcase.

We have a definitive answer

"the valve cover has two pressure relief's. The gray tube (passenger side) has a pcv valve at the valve cover and is connected to the manifold between the throttle body and the blower intake (this will see vacuum at idle or minimal throttle openings). The other tube makes a connection between the throttle body and the air filter and is always at ambient pressure. You would need to plug the manifold side if disconnecting from the valve cover, as Pilo indicates and vent the catch can back to the ambient tap.

inside the valve cover, both tubes are protected from splash by baffles and are intended to collect vapor only."
