R56 Performance Cylinder Head

I know there are lots of options for the supercharged cars.

But is anyone interested in performance heads for 07+ MCS?

Has anyone seen the inside of the ports or head?

The ports are rough as 80 grit........

While I completely love the idea...I think it's going to be more cost effective to just develop a larger turbo kit and tuning software that works well. Now a turbo kit + ported head....mmmmmm! But that seems like it would get quite costly......

I take it you have seen the ports on the R56 head? Can you post a picture of how rough they are for us, I'm very interested to see!

Interested, heck if I wasn't so busy working, I would be looking for a shop to port and my polish the current one.

Even better would be a nice new design!

Let me know what you have and when.

WOW! That looks worse than an R53 head!

I'm VERY interested to see what a ported/polished R56 will do. I hope that you go forward with doing it, as I think it might be something that could benefit the community a great deal if the results are as good as on the R53!

What could one expect as per HP by doing this?, I know this will be the first, but I guess maybe taking an example from R53 results?

I'm guessing that much like the R53, to get the most out of the ported/polished head you'll need to get a proper tune to go with it. Something that cannot really be done very well at the moment...

I'm excited to see someone do this though...if I had the money I'd find a machinist myself, after seeing those ports.

Ported heads on a force induction car usually makes great power! Ah the good conquest turbo 101 days. I remember porting my head out and it was night and day. On a fully stock car this mod will stock kick ****.

bigger valves, more aggressive cam, some p&p of the intake/exhaust tracks, all the things that make gains on a naturally aspirated engine (except smaller diameter exhaust for extraction velocity) all make exponential gains on a turbocharged motor.
keep us updated !
I was able to push 150hp from a 1L 3cyl turbo sprint with a big valve/big cam head & opened exhaust.

I know with an old carb V8 this would make quite a difference, but the R56 motor is direct injection, gas doesn't have to travel like it use too, but I don't know anything about direct injection and how or if a ported head would make a difference. Interested to see though, keep me updated on your project

Cool work Eddie - we'll be watching this with intense interest. By any chance do you have your donor car picked out and an initial dyno sheet published? Would be good to compare before and after and also see how it will stack up against a MINI JCW.

Well the good thing is is that it's a PW/B so we should be proud
