Here are some photos:

The can is custom made for Juston and has a large volume. The tip is black chrome.
The whole thing weighs about 20lbs.
I tried to make a sound recording with my iPhone this morning, but it didn't work so well. I like the sound--quite deep and throaty. It still drones a little once the gases heat up, but much less than the other systems, and it might be acceptable.

Well, it sure looks good. Nicely done and quite a journey to get to this point. Congrats
A proper sound clip is required, but of course that just can't do justice to the 'real' sound.

Yes, Terry, I will figure out how to get a sound clip, and video if possible. Of course, I don't know why my wife's Blackberry can make videos, but my iPhone can't. Isn't Apple supposed to be more "media" powerhouse, yet their flagship phone/ipod doesn't make videos? WTF
I am very disappointed that we don't have a clip yet, what are you working or something?
What a poor excuse! Today should be a holiday to allow you to properly bond with those new exhaust tunes.

Thanks Tony! Praise indeed.
Yeh, Terry, what's up with this work nonsense. Honestly, the reason I post during the day is to take a few minutes out here and then as a kind of breather, to then go back and put my head down to the task at hand.
...and don't get me started on my iPhone. That's a long and horrible story that continues to this day...aaargh.
But back to mufflers and tips!

Given that the drone is totally dependent upon the length of the system (wavelength, frequency type thingy) then the drone is at the same frequency - around 3000rpm. Every straight system is going to have exactly the same length.
It's certainly annoying. The only solution is a Helmholtz resonator, trust me.

I like it a lot. I agree with Tony, it looks like it could have been factory.
I cant tell from the pictures, but it look like it sits just a *smidge* low for my taste. Get any pics from an angle near bumper level?

Yes, it sits a little low, but to raise the tip would mean the front of the muffler will hit the center tunnel. I had it made from diagrams and measurements, not in situ, so it might have fitted better if the car and Juston had been in the same place. Still, it looks fine in person as the spacing of the valance cut out around the tip is pretty uniform.
Well, my Meisterschaft CF 2x102mm tips arrive tonight & they look freakin' awesome. However, I think I forgot how large 102mm would be & I might be selling one of the tips.
It'd be cool to run both, but I'm thinking with the size of my Coast Fabrication 19L (22L end-to-end) muffler I'd be outta room.

Well, for those of you following this saga, here's the latest: we're going Helmholtz!! I talked with Juston about the drone (the exhaust seems great in every other respect, I mean it) and I'm going to send it back and he'll install a Helmholtz on the side of the muffler. Not much room so there'll be lots of nice CMC welding I'm sure.
I'll report back as things progress.
I won't claim that I have the most expensive exhaust on an R53, but I must be getting up there...haha. (of course, this is the story of my life--if there's a way to pay more for something, I'll find it!)

Honestly, once you remove the battery box, the rest is pretty straight (pun) forward
I had issues with actually melting that black circuit breaker box (whatever its called) next to the battery. Had to make a heat shield over the muffler. Any issues with that yet Phil?
But then again, I think my system was higher and closer.
But then again, I think my system was higher and closer.
When I was doing this project, I too wondered about heat with the battery directly over the exhaust / muffler. Also, I seem to recall being a bit more concerned about having the battery supported by a thin plate of aluminum (in my case). So, I moved it off to the side on the solid boot floor, not directly above the system.
I don't have any really good photos, but I found this old one (attached). I have a different battery now, but you get the idea.

Heat doesn't seem to be a problem in my setup. I am using 2mm Al plate with lots of deamplifier internally and some auto undercoating externally. I will check once we get to summer and ambient temps rise to the 90s.
