Need your help...pulley install/oil leak?
Would appreciate your expertise as my 2006 MCS with 14,500 miles is going to the dealer next week due to an oil leak. I had a 15% pulley installed by an excellent independent BMW mechanic back in February.
I want to be prepared with info in the event the dealer tells me it is not covered under warranty (or that the pulley is the cause).
So...is it possible a pulley install could lead to an oil leak?
On the garage floor, it is a very small spot somewhat in the middle, but closer to the driver's side. Got on the ground to look underneath, but to no avail.
I'd be grateful for any and all input. NAM is and has been a great place to learn. Thanks everyone.

Off the top of my head I cannot see how a pulley instal could cause an oil leak. There have been oil pan gaskets that will leak (mine included), and should be covered under warranty.
Sorry not much help.......

Found out it was the crankshaft seal. Is it possible the smaller pulley giving more boost, heat generating, could have added stress to the seal causing it to leak? I'm a newbie car enthusiast attempting to understand the mechanics of things.
Thanks.
Thanks.
The pulley did not cause the leak. The front crank seal is prone to leaking, but it's still still odd for such a new car. It should be covered by warranty as there is really no corrolation between it and the pulley install.
