Mania came to the SPEED World Challenge race to have a chat with my father. In the meantime, they offered me the keys to the car for a bit. The car? 240hp MCS with coilovers and aftermarket wheels. I forget what they were, I was too excited to get in the car and drive. NRP Exhaust, Mania header, brake upgrades, 12lb clutch/flywheel combo.

Impressions?

The sound is just perfect. Had I not already ordered my Borla Sport, I would be in the process of getting this exact set-up. Idling through the Sears Point paddok a slight hint of something special was there, but a little rev of the engine let me know exactly what it was. Pulling out of the race track, I hang a left, and wait for plenty of room. The clutch combo feels really nice. The pedal effort is shortened and feels much like a few race cars I've driven. It's just the way I'd expect such package would feel for a street car. And the power? Oh my god. I wasn't about to redline the car, so I took it to around 6, 6 and half and I was at 70 in no time.

Compared to my 03 S with wheels/tires/pulley/intake the MM car feels much stronger and most of all more precise. I've driven many race cars, Formula Russels-ALMS GT M3's, and I can tell you that if I ever wanted one of those cars for the street, this MINI would fit that pretty well.

Big thanks to MINI Mania for the test drive and the pulley/header for my car. I'd like a set of those coilovers if you wouldn't mind

There was a MiniMania stage II kit on an MCS at Ralph Schomp and it was incredible! I highly recommend this package that MM has put together!

So how did they get to 240hp? Specifically?

Thanks

PS: The only thing that worries me about that NRP exhaust is that wicked bend at the end.

Stage I cars would probably be ok with the added backpressure from this but Stage II and III with headwork might not be so lucky.

that "wicked bend" is so smooth that i can't imagine it being a problem.

All of their bolt-ons (pulley, intake, header, ecu, exhaust and their head).

The MM stage II kit pulls 214hp--where is MM getting the additional 25hp?
