m7 crank pulley

What do you guys think, is it worth the risk of loosing engine life. Im at the point where i need to get a new harmonic balancer and misc oem parts ($500) or get the m7 crank pulley for ($170) and gain performance. Any opinions or stories about a fixed pulley causing problems. btw my car has a 15% pulley and 86k miles.

Ive had my m7 16%sc and 2%crank pullies for 15k+ miles now, no issues.

But with 86k on the clock, id start saving up $ to fix a F'd up SC that might be in your not too distant future....

Or instead of waiting for he SC to break you can pull it off now and do some maintenance it and be good for well over 50k miles.

Good call. I've got the Alta 2% pulley, and can't wait to get it on. At 86K and some change, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. I'm at 104K, and still going strong. I believe there is a guy on here with 170+K on the original SC... A used but fairly new SC goes for $300 - $600 depending on where you get it.

There are no rebuild kits for the SC as far as I know. The problems is that when they break it is usually the connection between the water pump and the output on the charger. All you really need to do to avoid that happening is pull off the SC and put some new charger oil in there (the stuff slowly leaks out over time, resulting in the connection between the pump and the charger running dry). While the supercharger is off you can also take the time to replace the oil in the nose gear area (not needed but you may as well). At your mileage I would do this sooner rather than later, goo news is that it isnt super hard, from what I have seen a good deal easier than a clutch.
