It sounds so good, I got to purchase it with my wife's full approval

(plus it's good for a ton of power, not just louder)
Thanks, when you install it you should post a clip of it. Oh by the way any secrets in "convincing the wife"

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=764

looks damm sexy.

Also don't pay attention to the prices on the magnaflow site, they show price of $300+, but most you can find for less than $150

In regards to convincing the wire. With every mod maybe a diamond, I know it can get pricey but that way you will never hear anything about the cars' gifts. I'm lucky to have one that wants to mod her own care so not a concern for me.

Wife got a diamond with the purchase of the Mini The exhaust she just had to hear, & SimpsonGI had his car parked right next to ours at the Alta opening That's one wicked automatic.

The sound clips online really don't do the system any justice, I was really set on getting the Borla sport catback previously.

i thought it was a 3 inch system? those two mufflers are both 2.5inch inlets.

Anybody have any clips from the interior with an Alta exhaust installed (with and without down-pipe)? I'm in the opposite situation as the OP. I don't want anything too loud, but I'm looking for mods to increase power. Just the exhaust sounds pretty mild, but with the down-pipe, it might be too loud for my taste. I'm really not that concerned about outside noise, it's inside noise that I'm worried about.

Ok so called teh muffler shop and was able to catch the owner, who still remembers my install. (1st mini cooper S) with straight exhaust from the engine. I guess all he had were r53's.

this is the set up:
this muffler:
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=632
with these tips:
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=672

I figured they were all together so I posted the previous links.

Well I actually passed by a local shop called Miami mufflers. I have seen several of their installs and they are top notch. It's a small shop but they do great work for a good price. They have an online retailer for mufflers and piping as well with a diff buss. name, so im guessing that's why the good price.

well step 1, remove the turbo
you'll never get the crisp note like that from a turbocharged car. (short of tuning it like a WRC car)

or, if you want to keep some of the power, get an R53

we can get a ticket for the noise too, but unless we are in like Coral Gables (our rich people neighborhood) the cops wont really stop you for that. get pulled over for something else, say speeding, and talk back....you'll get one of those "faulty equiptment" tickets here too.

YEAH! Not trying to have you spend MORE money, but you do get MORE performance. The addition of the ALTA DP will make a NICE change in the tone and not drone on the freeway. Also keeps you out of harms way with the emissions police too (in most states etc.)

I do agree that the exhaust above does sound good too. But the drone could be an issue for some as well.

Nice to know there are options for everyone! Thanks again folks!

Poor Service From Alta

I placed an order through one of Alta's dealers. He was told it would ship last Friday. He was not notified and called today to get the tracking. He was informed the exhaust never shipped. Alta's response was they are on back order until late March. What a joke, I almost expected this from Alta. You only sell 10-15 products for the R56 and the exhaust is the most popular. I would call Alta and voice my concern but I feel it would be a total waist of time based on a few people I have spoken with. If one of their dealers does not get a explanation why should a customer.

ALTA WILL BE OUT OF STOCK ON EXHAUST SYSTEMS ALL MONTH

im sorry that you had a bad experience with them, but to say that you wont voice your concern because you think it is a waste of time isnt necessarily true. we ordered an gauge cup from alta about two weeks ago, we called about 4 days after just to see what was up and the nice lady that answers their phone actually tracked the package for us and told us how long it would be. she said it would be at our door the next day, and sure enough it was. we also had a gauge from prosport not one we ordered from them and they still emailed my husband the instructions on how to install it. my husband just ordered an ECU for my birthday from Alta and they were very polite and actually told him they could get it to us by the week of my bday. (next week). so again i am really sorry to hear that you are having a bad experience with alta but call them and talk to them, they will definately tell you anything you need to know. the issue as well may be that you ordered it through a third party so, its not that alta doesnt want to help you, its that technically the person you should be talking to is the company you are buying the product from. alta in that case is just the supplier.
