the cavity behind the grille is sealed and would probably be a high pressure zone. from doing a similar scoop molded into the grille on my Subaru, it didn't do much (certainly didn't hurt). Different cars, yes, but similar layout. Forced induction cars don't seem to benefit much from a 'ram air' setup...the compressor pulls more air than airflow 'pushes' at legal speeds
The opening you have circled is actually behind the hood and not the grille. A scoop for said opening would be ideal as the air would not have to "find" it's way there.
Exactly, there has been much in the past discussing getting "more air" to the CAI. For the record - first to raise this "new scoop idea" - so I should get the prototype and get to post a thread before M7 can make any official announcement - .
